I found myself in that situation not to long ago, well except my friend finaly got around to reinstalling SWG and reactivating his account. I had set my mind to grinding, and grinding I did, with some space combat on the side to keep me from totally burning out. I realized, like you, It was fun, but not like when I just did something because I wanted to. I originally bought the game to master bounty hunter...heh, still haven't.So if I don't beat CU for Jedi I'm not complaining, besides if you think about it in an RP style it took years of training to become a Jedi. So just start and go from there lol.

I think one of the big defining moments is when I recently started learning swordsman. I want to unlock my jedi so my alt can be "UBER" swordsman. I started dinking around with it and I'm finding it's a really fun class. Then I realized I was saying to myself "It's too bad I NEED to keep these skill points invested in Commando. I'd love to play a swordsman sooner rather than later." That's when I discovered I didn't NEED to do anything but what I wanted. Why put off playing the character I want, when I can do it now?

Like many ppl I was using grenades to grind my fs boxes. I didn't mind the money I spent on the nades, or the boredom I felt when grinding (I always had the goal of a second slot and jedi in mind).

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine starting playing again. He and started playing the first week of release and had a blast. He was disgruntled with the way the game made promises and didn't deliver, so he left. He's back and loving the changes to the game. With his return came the realization that my game time had become all about "THE GOAL" and not "THE JOURNEY". We have been having a blast running around killing random creatures, exploring the galaxy, and just acting like total idiots. I realized that, while I was enjoying the game, I wasn't having fun.

I've decided to let go of the skill points I've dedicated to commando and continue my WS and Swordman leveling (once I burn through the last 5 crates of grenades:smileyvery-happy. When I get enough xp to trade in at the village, I'll make that trip.

That's it. Just wanted to share my experience and hopefully let it give someone else some insight.

Good decision. This is what the game is all about.
