do i have to do all those skill branches i unlock, or do i become initiate aftercompleting all the quests?

You need to fill 6 FS branches with xp and then do the exit quest.

You get initiate once you craft your first saber for that quest. Think its halfway through the padawan trials.

yup, you get initiate after crafting your 1st saber, which is always your 8th quest of the paddy trials

qyuest 7-8-9 is when you craft your training saber as well as recieving the title initiate
