Howerver, during your trials you'll be able to craft your first lightsaber. Since you still have no force bar at this point you can afk grind meatlumps outside of coronet for about 10 hours and get enough jedi xp to unlock the novice LS box. This is a good idea since you can't gain viz as a Initiate (if you could I would have been toast for my grinding meatlumps) and thus BountyHunters are not a concern.

Your second character is not available until you have the "Jedi Padawan" title.

Not to place a damper on this, but there have been more than 1 player who has gotten on the terms as an Initiate. Yes, I know you are not supposed to because you don't have a force bar yet, but it can happen. It is a bug, but who knows who it might affect. So, afk grind NPCs at your own risk or play it safe from the start and develop good jedi grinding techniques.

You must keep the padawan status to keep the second toon. And you must keep the 24 points in your FS skills to keep your Paddy.

Good luck!

Conclusion
After successfully completing all sixteen trials you will gain the Jedi Padawan title, a Padawan Robe, and the ability to start training in the Jedi Disciplines. Also, you'll unlock your second character slot, with which you can do whatever you want, including becoming a Jedi again (but you will not unlock any further slots).

Can't I just drop all the Jedi stuff after getting my second character?
No, you can't. You are going to have spent 24 SP that you can't drop

yes thanks for the sarchasm in the repost but I read that

I was actually looking for more specific answers eh thanks for the help though I suppose

No sarcasim in the post. It answers all but the XP loss question.

Are their any other skill points I need to spend before I unlock the second toon?& Do I have to train in anything to get it?

You must train 6 full branches in FS and complete the trials.

Once I unlock the second toon will I then be able to give up padawan and/or any FS skills aquired during the village and still keep the unlocked toon?

One other note about dropping Jedi. The one skill you should never drop is Novice Lightsaber. As a padawan you are subject to negative xp loss. If you decide one day to continue down the road of Jedi, you don't want to climb out of the negative xp hole using a training lightsaber.

BTW a new padawan isn't going to lose 200K. Here is how it works:

Death Penalty:

Upon death Jedi now suffer Jedi XP loss.

If you clone you will lose an amount of Jedi XP based on your skill level:

  • -4,500 XP if you are only a Jedi Initiate or below(haven’t completed Padawan Trials yet).

  • -5,000 XP if you have no novice boxes in any of the Jedi Disciplines (new Padawan).

  • -15,000 XP if you have any novice boxes in any Jedi Discipline.

  • -30,000 XP if you have any level 1 boxes in any Jedi Discipline.

  • -50,000 XP if you have any level 2 boxes in any Jedi Discipline.

  • -100,000 XP if you have any level 3 boxes in any Jedi Discipline.

  • -200,000 XP if you have any level 4 boxes (a full branch) in any Jedi Discipline.

If you use Regain Consciousness you will lose -50,000 Jedi XP (but not the -200K).

If you get rez'd by a doc you do not lose any Jedi XP (unless DB'd by a BH of course).

The cap for negative XP is -10 million and it will not 'decay', so be careful!

The death penalty from Bounty Hunter missions changed in Publish 10.3, it is now calculated as follows:

  • Payout for Jedi Missions is now 1000 times the number of skill points the Jedi has devoted to Jedi and Force Sensitive skills. The minimum payout is 25,000 and the maximum (for a Padawan) is 250,000.

  • If a Jedi is defeated by a BH their payout will default to the minimum (25K) for a few days (3?).

  • Jedi experience loss for dying from a BH with a mission is twice the payout of the mission, or rather 2000 times the number of skill points the Jedi has spent on Jedi and FS skills (unless they've been killed by a BH recently, then it's the minimum loss). The minimum XP loss is -50,000 and the maximum is -500,000.

  • This penalty is incurred at the moment the BH deathblows the Jedi, so Cloning and Regain Consciousness penalties still apply as well. (I feel this is a little harsh...)

Jedi do not suffer a death penalty from dying in space (except in the case of Multiplayer Ships as passengers).

ok I've read through all of the faq threads and they are very detailed but I do have a couple of questions I'd like answered.

It's clear that I have to go through the village and spend the 24 skill points to get to the padawan trials, and once I complete the padawan trials I gain the access of my second toon.

Are their any other skill points I need to spend before I unlock the second toon?

Do I have to train in anything to get it?

When do I start gaining and losing jedi xps? I know its 200k per kill but does that start immediately with the padawan unlock and the unlocking of the second toon?

Once I unlock the second toon will I then be able to give up padawan and/or any FS skills aquired during the village and still keep the unlocked toon?

The reason I'm asking is I've always sort of wanted the second toon unlocked and have my main character be force sensitve yet without the expenditure of the skill points. As my main will likely never train up to jedi. This puts a bit of a delema on my current situation as I am almost done with the village and see no real benifit of the FS stuff yet at the same time would like to unlock the second toon to work that one? I also would rather not dig a tremendous hole for myself should I ever decide to go with jedi on my main.

any answers would certainly help me choose what my next move is.

When you are Jedi Initiate (during the padawan trials, but before you unock your second character) you are eligable for XP loss. I know, because I was an Initiate and died and lost 4500 Jedi xp.

I am in a similar position. We cannot drop Padawan once we gain that box and simply have two normal toons. This is a bug. (Check FS-Issue/Bug thread) I will finish my grinding in two days, and I'm gonna sit pretty right there, since I don't want to lose Jedi experience or have to sequester my main toon in my house to protect it. The sad part is, with the CU and the new expansion, we'll probably not see a fix on this for a real long time. And after I spent the last six months grinding... *Sigh* At least I got all the grinding done before the CU. I am really worried for all those folks who will have to grind after the CU. It may not be that much worse, but it could be a lot worse. I am optimistic about the CU, but I can't see it making the FS grind easier by any means.

I really hope the next "expansion" will consist totally of patches for all the bugs for things that don't work now.

thanks jcesare that answers most of my questions

maybe I should have rephased them a bit clearer but I thought it was clear that I read the posts.

my question was essentially I know I have to get padawan and all the FS village stuff but other than the 24 points i lose for the village are there any MORE points that I need to use to get padawan. Is it a box? do I have to have novice ls for it? that would be more skill points spent to unlock the second toon

And I know I cant give up the village for the second toon but can I give up Padawan so as not to go way negative in xps and still keep the toon. The post only says that I have to keep the points for the village. I know that but can I drop padawan so as not to get the negative jedi xp loss and still keep the second toon.

Are the trials all that difficult? I may get padawan and open the second toon then drop padawan and see but I don't play that much so if they take a long time I may not.

you see when I complete the village I don't get the second toon I get the second toon when I complete the padawan trials so I need to know what the involvement and risk is between padawan and the village if the post said you cannot ever give up padawan and keep your second toon then I would not have asked the question.

Halfway through the Padawan trials (9th trial) your task is to construct a training lightsaber. When you use the lightsaber, you gain Jedi XP. All the Jedi related trees require Jedi xp to fill the boxes. The novice boxes, of which lightsaber isone, require 20k of Jedi xp to fill. You cannot actually train the box until you complete the padawan trails, but you can bank the Jedi xp. The recommended method is to get the 20k of Jedi xp before you complete the trials, so you don't have to worry about going on the BH terminals. Be careful however, just because you can't go on the terminals doesn't mean you don't generate visibility.

It's been reported that people went on the terminals as soon as they completed the trials because they thought they were immune from visibility. They did stupid things like showing off there training saber to friends and went hunting in groups or with their droids.Keeping off the terms is all about keeping a low profile. Even if youdidn't gain vis before padawan, it's still a good idea to developgood habits. Jedi are suppose to be in hiding, learning to use their powers. Plan to spend several months on the down low, in the wilderness, grinding by yourself.

The trials are easy, you CAN complete them in a day or two, but you should get the first 20k of Jedi xp as soon as you can. This means grinding with a training saber for about a week. (If you get 120 xp per kill, you'll be doing good.) The biggest problem with the trials is your NPC contactwaypoint will end up with no one there. Rori based missions seem to be a real problem. When you accept the trial at the shrine, you should immediately reset any trial that requires you to meet an NPC on Rori. You'll get a new waypoint and if it's still Rori, keep reseting the mission until you get one not on Rori.

Once you get novice lightsaber, you can construct a 1st gen lightsaber that actuallly does some real damage. It requires a color crystal and a power crystal. If you don't have any, now is a good time to go crystal hunting, while you still have an elite profession and you don't suffer xp loss upon death.

Using crystals requires a Jedi to "tune" it. The most important stats are force cost and min max damage. The cap is -9FC 50.50 damage. Tuning crystals is random, so you might need several crystals to get a good one. Since Jedi powers is all about using the Force, you really need a low FC crystal. Otherwise your Force HAM bar will deplete fast and you'll have a lot of down time.

When you become a Padawan, you get a new HAM bar, a Force bar or Force Pool. To increase you Force Pool. the recommended path is to do all the novice Jedi boxes first. At 20k per box, this is the cheapest way to gain a decent Force Pool. Each Jedi box increases the pool, but novice and master boxes have a bonus amount.
