I completed it pre cu, and even then it was hard. As a matter of fact by far the hardest phase in the village. Once I got a good group it went pretty easy. And phase 4 was fun and easy, I went there with a 1.2 speed f-5 pistol and tabbed through the whole first phase of siths and completed it in 10mins. lol!

I just did it this morning. Me and a friend of mine were the first people on Valcyntocomplete it this morning. It was very ez for us. No one died except before the quest when we were scouting the closest bases. He didn't even know what was going on and got shot from a gliched turret 1000 m away. Our professions were MDoc/MRifles, and MBH/MRifles. We had no problems what so ever finishing the mission. I Dropped the shelds and he got the guy. Then I tanked the whole way back. There were alot of hills, but we still were able to get the guy over them. My friend just held shift the whole way.

I did it pre and post CU. PreCU it was very difficult and we needed at least 4 (preferably more) good fighters to take down the required number of Sith to get the commander to spawn. PostCU I did it with only 4 people, one of them a healer/squad leader and one a level 54 rifleman -- I think the other two were melee and range, not sure what level. It was MUCH easier to get into the base, the only problematic part is that 3000m stroll through Dathomir but we made it with no problems. With a base that is 3k away you have a little leeway for detouring around patches of red dots, much more than a base 6k or 9k away. The last 1k is inside the mist and there isn't much there that will aggro you, so you will only have 2k of hostile territory to hike through before the commander hits his time limit and dies from the poison he took when you captured him.

My advice: travel around the village in a 3k radius circle. There will be at least three bases. Learn their names by clicking on the droids in front of them.

Next, find the random spawns of Sith Shadows that pop up within 1k of these bases. Loot all the data disks you can. Give the resources they drop to your favorite crafter because they will need lots of them for the crafting quest.

Talk to the captain and get the quest, with a partner. Make sure before accepting the quest that one of you is capturing the commander and the other is destroying the base defenses. That way you will both get the (currrently useless but rumored to be nerfed someday) mind crystal.

Turn in sith disks to the captain until you get one with the name of one of the close bases. Give unused disks to your friends, or others waiting to do the quest.

When you go hit that base, have everyone at the gate, and once it's down, stay together and run inside to the back. Kill sith until the commander spawns, then wait and they will despawn and you can walk right out (with the commander following whoever got the commander capture quest). Keep the commander targeted at all times so you don't lose him. If you're not a high level fighter, it might help to have one along who is prepared to pull anything that aggros off the quest people.

Any party capable of taking on one or two sith shadows at a time can do this quest. Just make sure you run inside the base when the door comes down because a lot more sith will spawn outside; from the inside you can pull them one at a time but if you stay outside the base when they spawn you'll probably be paying a visit to the cloner shortly afterwards.

I think the question on many peoples minds is does he (the Commander)Run with you or does he still walk with no terrain neg. I am running another toon through so I am also curious.
