this is in no way an attempt to flame.. just a lil FYI. In the old system.. when the village first came out.. I was able to fill a complete tree in two days. I could solo hunt on dathomir in the whole solo group program for better payouts and take a lair full of rancor down and get full xp. And since I could solo all that i got full xp... and got good xp as well. The only benefit or real difference between old days and post CU is this.. right now.. as a Post CU combat toon you can't solo a lair of rancors like you could in the old days. you can fight one or two or if you are really good (non jedi of course) maybe 3.. but in the old system as a normal non jedi toon I could AE the rancors and the lair and spawn all the next wave and STILL beat them all down without having to even remotely worry about damage. So in essence i went from being able to tank 8 rancors to being able to fight 2. Post CU lairs generate more critters if you are grouped.. Excellent idea SOE i honestly like this. you don't have to go back for missions as often.. makes it good xp and it flows a little faster due to that, you just don't have to travel back to get missions as often. Great stuff. I honestly like the Post CU combat.. I always thought it was rediculous that anyone could or should be able to solo a full lair of rancors without a problem. But I don't think XP was really any harder to build back then than it is now. It just depends on what you put into it. So the old schoolers that say it is way too easy to get xp.. I been here just as long as you guys.. it is not all that much different. Just had to change fighting styles... that is the only real difference in my eyes. =)

i agree with both of your posts -- only thing i would add is the ability to find a group is essential -- you can no longer grind alone which has its advantages and disadvantages.

things are becoming more complicated as more and more people leave the game, my friends list is some 150 people deep and the most ive had online lately is 10 at once

that makes finding a solid group tough to say the least

i think we need a reduced timer for the new amount of exp you can get in a short amount of time. no one is going to want to pay 15 bucks to sit around waiting for 3 weeks to pass

I think that's why it is too. It guarantees them there monthly feeees =p

I think they got number crunchers were everything is tied together to ensure that monthly fee! lucas must eat! joking... but seriously. Why change something that is almost guarantee'd to generate a few more monthly fees even if they do quit.

I wish they'd reduce it too, I got two more trees left... suit me fine though. Just don't see it happening. =(

To all it may concern,

The main problem for the FS quests and the Villiage and how long or short it seems is because there is a major difference in the player base. Let me explain.

I had an account from the week the game was originally launched. I was there when the commando's were getting incapped by gnorts and a teras kasi novice was an amazing sight to see. My account was terminated accidently and I lost all of my stuff. I was so angry that i quit the game around the time the first villiage came out. Now you have to keep reading because this is starting to sound like a "poor me" thread.

There are two kinds of FS questers. There are the kind that had to unlock on the old system when they would sit in the squill cave all day to maybe master their profession once. They had to max out their exp at 900k if they were a master, and they had the same conversion ratios. To this "older" generation, they got 3-4 weeks to complete that phase of the villiage because it literally took about a month until they were able to convert enough exp to get the full branch, and then guess what, it's off to the grind again. Trust me, i only had one branch up that old way before my account was deleted and grinding straight for 4 1/2 months is no way to spend 15 bucks a month. that is the power grinder. Kudos to them for doing what they did, but that's like saying "well back in my day, we had to walk 30 miles UPHILL in a snowstorm.....blah blah blah....." instead of catching a bus.

The other kind of FS quester is the new age one. This is the one I'm currently in right now (I missed the double exp week lol) so i'm technically doing it along the same lines as the old players because i don't have the double exp option. now i'll tell you it took a month for me to get one branch in the old system. In this new "combat rebalance", the exp comes in a lot quicker. I got to the villiage this morning and by the time i was logging out i had enough exp to get the novice, 1st, and 2nd and half of the third box without even completeing the mission. The older generation looks at this new post CU group as a bunch of whiners because we don't have to spend a month grinding for a month for each phase like the older generation so of course we are a little "born with a silver spoon in our mouth".

My opinion is the same as a lot of people's. I don't think the villiage grind is too long or too short. The actual conversion and filling up 24 boxes is very time consuming, no matter which generation you grinded in. the only difference is the older generation of grinders was never hindered by the phase shifts. They always completed their quests and then had to grind to fill up all the boxes. And VERY few people in the old system were done with their grind and had a whole branch before the next phase came out. I suggest we either get rid of or at least reduce the time between phases. The only reason they chose three weeks for the older generation is because that was about the fastest amount of time you could complete a branch in and do the mission to unlock that branch before moving on to the next one. That just simply isn't the case anymore. The villiage timers are outdated in this game, much like the difficulty missions for the jabba, imperial, and rebel themeparks. They are just so stinking easy that they are just a pain to have to go through. much like the villiage is. but the only thing worse than having to grind jedi, is having to wait to unlock another branch to start grinding again.

The villiage and the padawan trials and the new jedi system are still an amazing concept and i love being a part of it, but it's a bit outdated and needs some fine tuning and some tweaks. I would say maybe a week at the longest between phase changes because a powergrinder could bust that out in 1-2 days and a casual player would take up the entire week to do one branch. The older generation is always going to say how we're going through it too fast, but you have to understand where they are comming from. No one is wrong, it's just that a little tweaking here and there is what keeps this game great.
