I havent been able to get my radiation detecter up above 8.3, I'll be driving in one direction, the device says i'm moving in the right direction and then instantly i go from about 5 in the right direction to -2. How can I be moving closer to a camp in the right direction and then all of the sudden I'm not, even though I'm still going in the right direction? Is this quest working as intended because it seems a bit wierd to me

it is kind of a pain to keep driving around in circles but i kept my overhead map up also and flew towards crowds of red dots which kind of helped also.

that's probably because you're not quite doing it the right way. Swoop and turn untill you get the maximum value (meaning you are on the right path). If that decreases, it means you need to correct your bath, turn again and re-orientate to the direction that gives you the highest value.

It's not very difficult, you just have to go towards the direction that gives you the highest value.

do you have to get your radiation meter to equal the enemy threat level? Or do you just have to get it to a certain point

I honestly didn't even pay attention to what the numbers were. I just drove in one direction until it switched from "getting closer" to "getting further"and then gently turned until it went back to getting closer again. I don't think it took me more than 2 minutes to find any of the camps.

Here's a quick way. It never takes me more than a minute to find the camps:

Drive with the detector at around the max level, doesn't matter if you are off, as long as its around the high numbers. As soon as the reading flips from positive to negative, STOP! The camp will be at an orientation of 90 degrees to your right or left from your current headding. Pick one (90 degrees left or right) and head in that driection. If the reading is negative, turn 180 degrees and head the other way. You should be on the camp in a matter of seconds.
