Greetings everyone. I played SWG beta then continued for a year. My main goal was to unlock the force sensitive slot. At the time this was a seperate slot, on which a Jedi character was made. I mastered every profession except bounty hunter, droid maker and architect. Many of these professions were mastered before the badge system was implemented. I visited every place i could find. I did every themepark...I went nuts trying to unlock the slot. After a year of play, and with nothing left to do except grind 2 more crafting professions I put 1 million credits into each of my houses and logged out...switched over and cancelled my subscription. I knew that if i ground out those last 2 my slot would unlock most likely, but all of my friends had cancelled and there was nobody there to share the joy with....not 1 person I knew played...I had outlasted all of my buddies in my search for the slot.
I bought EQ2 and have been playing EQ since launch. Then, when they added SWG to the all access pass....I went for it.
Last night after re-installing SWG, I logged in. The graphics were more beautiful thanI remembered. After playing EQ2, I could barely control my character. The controls were all foreign. The fact that I got jumped by a pack of Shauputs didnt help either. I ran around blasting and finally dropped the last one. I had no hotkeys up and couldnt remember the command to bring up the window to put the hotkeys in my bar. I was lucky to have lived. Through the encounter I got diseased by a Shauput. I waited and waited and the disease persisted. I messed with the UI some and this quest journal thing kept popping up. I think I have to head to a hospital and get cured by a doc, but am unsure...it has been a long long time since I played SWG.
I arrived in Coronet...I figured at 5am there has to be at least one Doc around....but there wasnt. I ran into a medic in the medical facility and was asking how to bring up varioius things in my UI. Then I asked how do you unlock the force slot. He said I needed lots of badges etc. I said i had over 75 badges and that I had done all the themeparks and that I had mastered all professions in game except 3. He then told me to type /check.....
Well...it said i glowed and that the force was with me...or something close to that. So I asked the guy what that meant. He said that an old man would visit me in the next couple of days and I could start on some force training.
I looked up info on allakazams...and now I am totally and completely lost. The quest journal thingy....I already have it, yet in the jedi FAQ's it says you dont get it until you start some quest. I also got some flashing skill things that said I was eligible for new skills and such while I was riding my swoop to the hospital. I would kick my self in the booty if I sat around this weekend waiting for an old man only to find out that I didnt have to do that part.
When I read the FAQ's....none of the terms were familiar to me. What are these phases.....what is the difference between Jedi and force sensitive? What the heck is going on? What are phases? Does everyone in the game have a Jedi char now? I looked at the list of how to become force sensitive and almost keeled over laughing. If the game mechanics are the same then I could complete those checklists in a day. And to think I worked so darn hard for a year to unlock a prize I did not receive until now.
What should I do? Is there anywhere I should go? How can I spend or collect on these "skills" that I am eligible for? There were a bunch.
Will my char that unlocked the slot be a Jedi now? If so this is different than before. I wanted a human jedi...but i suppose I could play a Bothan one.
I have so many questions for everyone. I just need some guidance as to what to do now. It seems from reading the FAQ's that my char is somewhere beyond the old man part...but I dont know where to go or what to do or what a phase is or even how to program macro's anymore.
Some guidance would be appreciated. I play on Starsider.
Thanks in advance

you will need to wait for the old man even if you can already be a jedi, then you will get attacked by 2 "siths". They will drop a datadisk with a waypoint, go there and kill the other "siths". Then you will get a waypoint to Dathomir, go there. The journal is now available for everyone since the launch of jump to lightspeed, swg's expansion. As for the phases, it's a period of 3 weeks where you can do 1 quest to unlock a line of force sensitive skills. You can only do 1 per phase and you will need to convert certain types of xp for certain skills. Ratio for convert is in the stikies.

Since you mastered all those professions under the old system, you meet the requirements for the village quests already. They gave "free unlocks" to players who were grinding under the old "hidden profession" system. It requires 6 full FS branches to move on to exit quest, become Jedi initiate, go on to padawan trials, where you unlock your second slot. Your second slot is now just another slot. It can be used as a support character, or you can go through the whole thing again and make hime a Jedi, if you like, the only difference is you don't get a third slot. Your original character goes on to become jedi.
As far as FS skills are concerned, only a few will benefit a jedi charater. Since jedi are melee characters forget about range speed and range accuracy. The four branches that are the most useful to a jedi are Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, Range Defense, Melee defense. After that it's a toss up for Vehicle Control (faster getwaways), Persuasion(helps with Imperial scans), Survival (It will give you some terrain negotiation) and Luck (more credits). Healing only helps if you have medic and won't heal your force bar, plus there are special force commands to heal so you don't need medic. Also, you won't have enough skill points to keep medic if you fill your Jedi template.
As far as the village phases go, This was implemented as a gating process and time sink to slow down Jedi development. It takes 6 unlocks of fs branches, only one unlock is allowed each phase, each phase lasts 3 weeks. So the minimum time a new player coiuld get to jedi is 18 weeks. Of course you also need to do the "getting glowy" thing and earn all the xp to fill the branches.

Once you get into the village, you will want to visit a rodian named Paemos. You converse to him and if you have any free unlocks, he will have a special option. Now I never add any free unlocks so I cant help you on that. Only unlock 1 at a time, you will get all the xp you need for that free unlock. After getting your unlock, visit the lizard named Noldan. He's in charge of training your force sensitive skills, rince and repeat until you got all your unlocks and training. I suggest you take a look at what each phase has to offer in skills so if you dont get 6 unlocks youre not stuck waiting 3 weeks or more because you got all the skills this phase has to offer. If you got all your 6 lines filled up, you will get visited by the old man a second time, this can take up to 72 hours some people got him after 9 hours. The old man will give you an exit quest to kill a force sensitive npc, this exit quest is for you to get your jedi initiate status. I suggest bringing alot of friends, because its more fun that way.

Thank you for such quick replies. Great advice there, and I will attempt to find the village and see if I can skillup.

When you examine a lightsaber it says that it is a melee weapon. Supposidly melee speed is the only one of the fs speed skillsthat works and it works on ranged weapons also. Range speed is said to be broken. This, of course, is very hard to test because of all the mods involved. The Jedi FAQ states thatmelee speed and acurracy works on lightsabers. I'll trust that for now.If it doesn't then it's as useless as all the other fs skillsso there is no harm in having it. You got to spend 24 points on something. At least you can hope it gets fixed one day.

Ok...so wait for old man...get crystal...head to village. Got it =)
One more question.....(probably more to follow)
I am an Imperial. Does this effect my ability to do the force quests? Do I need to resign or work on any faction or anything like that?
Thanks againto those that posted, this is really helping me out.

No. The village is faction neutral. Imperials are just as welcome as rebels. It actually makes for some interesting alliances-of-necessity, especially in Phase 4.
