If you don't have a lot of money you might rethink the gernade route. It is the fastest way to grind but it is expensive and there is talk ofit being nerfed with the combat upgrade. I would start the grind "as is" until the upgrade is released. It would be a shame to change your template only to have the main benefit from gernades nerfed.

I made it to Padawan as a Master Smuggler / Master Pistoleer. I needed help on the exit quest from riflemen, so I definitely wouldn't drop that skill, plus TKM/Rifle is a nice combination to deal with Mellichae. Smuggler is a good way to go for Padawan. It saved me a ton of xp loss already. I've been close to death about a half dozen times.

Atm I am Master Rifleman / Master TKA/ Medic 2x4x. Is this better template for fxp gains: Master TKA / Commando 4xxx + rest of skillpoints in medic and fs slots ((Q3 2007) when I am padawan I drop commando and take smuggler (for fake dead) and some scout skill for terrain negotation).

I dont have millions of credits. So I need to use more c22 crenades than proton grenades..

Should i change my toon and use c22/proton mix or is it better and faster to stick with rifle/tka + c12's
