Just completed the Padawan trials and they certainly were trying. The trials themselves were actually quite fun, but the five of the first six missions were bugged and that wasn’t. Anyway, I kept a diary of this experience and thought I might share it with everyone out there that has yet to go through this. Good luck to you all!

1st trial
Kill Sludge Panther Trial
Got the trial from a Naboo force shrine, and had to travel to Restuss on Rori. The NPC sent me to kill sludge panthers on Talus. No problems with this trial.

2nd trial – Bugged
Spice Mom Trial
Got the trial on Rori and was sent to Dearic on Talus. Had no problem talking to Spice Mom, but the NPC she sent me to simply wasn’t at the waypoint.

Went to Talus force shrine and restarted. I was then sent to Mos Eisley on Tatooine. Trial completed

3rd Trial – Bugged
Old Musician Trial
Got the trial on Tatooine, and was sent to Restuss on Rori. Found the NPC and was sent to Mos Eisley on Tatooine and later to Nym’s on Lok. Returned to Rori to find the NPC had disappeared and simply would not come back.

Got fed up with Rori, flew to Naboo, restarted the quest and was sent to Bela Vistal on Corellia. Repeated trips to Mos Eisley and Lok, returned to Bela Vistal, Two of the same NPCs were there. Spoke with one and completed the trial

4th Trial – Bugged
Architect Trial
Got the Architect Trial on Corellia and was sent to Moenia on Naboo. Found the NPC and was sent to a waypoint. Arrived at waypoint and the NPC was spawned in tree. I could not converse at all.

Travelled to force shrine, restarted trial and was sent to Kaadara. Found NPC, traveled to waypoint, spoke with NPC and returned to start. Completed the trial.

5th Trial – Bugged
Sob Story Trial
Was sent to Nashall on Talus. Found the NPC no problem and proceeded to waypoint. Found and retrieved the item, returned to original NPC waypoint, and she wasn’t there.

Getting pretty tired of doing every trial twice.

Travelled to nearest force shrine, restarted trial. Got sent to Dee’ja Peak on Naboo. Found the NPC no problem, traveled to waypoint and retrieved the item. Returned to NPC to find two of the same NPC spawned in same spot. Spoke with (one of) her and completed trial.

6th Trial (or 10th Trial, from a certain point of view)
Bad Cat Trial
Travelled to Naboo force shrine and was sent to Dearic on Talus. Found the NPC, traveled to the waypoint and punished the naughty kitty. Returned to the NPC and – gasp, shock, horror, surprise – the NPC is actually there. Completed Trial. It was bound to happen at least once.

7th Trial
Pannaqa Trial
Went out to force shrine on Talus, and started trial. Got sent to Dathomir and the Force Village. Ugh. Don’t ever want to go back there ever. No sir. Found the NPC at the village, went to the waypoint he gave me. Here the NPC sent me to another waypoint and another NPC who sent me back to the first NPC. So good so far. (Hmm, I think to my self, do three NPCs in the same mission qualify this as “content”?) I return to the village to find Pannaqa waiting exactly where I left him. Two in a row….something must be wrong….Trial Completed.

8th Trial
People's Soldier Trial
Got this trial from Dathomir force shrine. Sent to Doaba Guerfel. Found the old soldier, and proceeded to the waypoint he provided. NPC was there, and immediately killed. Returned and completed the trial. Three in a row; a great trend.

9th Trial
Craft Lightsaber Trial
Woo Hoo! This has been the best thing so far. Really enjoying this. Running around checking vendors for minerals, checking my own inventory for something good. And now I have a light saber.

10th Trial
Kill Falumpaset Trial
Grabbed this trial from a Naboo force shrine. Got sent to Dearic (where I will be no doubt told that I have to go back to Naboo) to kill falumpasets. Gosh, these were hard to find. But I managed to get a couple of wild spawns and from two to four at Gungan Military base missions. Returned to Dearic to see not one, but two, of the same NPC standing in the same spot.

11th Trial
Chef Trial
From Dearic I was sent to Tyrenna, Corellia were the Chef was where he was supposed to be. Just refused to kill someone over baked goods and the trial was complete. Easy as pie….you might say.

12th Trial
Surveyor Trial
The Corellia force shrine sent me of to Rori again…Restuss again. NPC was there ok and sent me on to the waypoint. Found and killed the MOB therein, and returned to Restuss…Restuss…rest…need some rest…2AM…16 hours of grinding….for the second time in three days…

In any case, the NPC was where he was supposed to be and the trial is completed.

13th Trial
The Ring Trial
Left Rori for a nicer planet (Naboo – which of course means I was sent back to rori) and traveled to a force shrine to get this, my 13th trial. At least this time it was Narmle and not to the Great Maze of Restuss. Found the NPC at his waypoint and struck out to retrieve his ring. Found the NPC where he was supposed to be and returned to the city. Spoke with one of the two copies of the NPC (beginning to see a trend here) and the trial was completed.

14th Trial
Politician Trial
Left Rori and traveled to Tyrena, as that seems to be the starport with the closest force shrine. After a few hours sleep I was back at it, and was sent on my way to Tatooine. Found the NPC Politician with no issues and had no trouble dispatching his little problem. Returned to his waypoint and spoke with one of his two clones. Trial complete.

15th Trial
Artist Trial
Really in the home stretch here. Force shrine located close to Mos Espa. Unfortunately, got sent back to Rori (Narmle again, thankfully). Guess this means the Baz Nitches will be my last trial. Found the artist where she was supposed to be, and went out in search of her assistant. Found him at his waypoint, obtained the supplies and returned to the Artist. Surprised to see only one copy of the NPC, but I am happy to have completed the trial bug free.

16th Trial
Kill Baz Nitch Trial
Strange how it all ends where it all began on Dathomir. Kill 20 Baz Nitches…ironic since I had never really hunted Baz Nitches (never naded, anyway) and yet here we are. Wonder what planet the Rori force shrine will send me to. Talus. Dearic. Could have been worse, I suppose could have been Rori. Off to Dearic I go, where I find the NPC right where he should be, so I head off to Dathomir and grabbed two Baz Nitch missions. Seems two lairs wasn’t enough, of course, since many of the MOBs would despawn in combat, that makes sense. Managed to get the rest on a wild spawn and headed back to Dearic. Found two copies of the NPC at the waypoint, spoke with one and completed the trial.

Got a message from the force that told me to go to a force shrine to get my next trial, which struck me as odd since I have done them all (and 5 of them in a row twice!)….so I return to Naboo and visit the force shrine to find that I was done! Got my robes, force bar and everything…now the real fun begins.

The Darkside just got a whole lot darker….

Dismount and run the last 200-300m to your trials waypoints. Many have found (myself included) this minimizes the problem with the mission NPC despawning, or just not spawning at all.

The SWG Forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of
catassery and buttmonkeyism. We must be cautious.

Tried everything to get these NPCs to respawn and I am convinced that they simply never do (because of any action a player can take.)

In each case noted above I:

dismounted before approaching

/logout and back in

/quit and back in

deleted waypoint

shuttled to other cities

Nothing made any difference. Just had to go back and restart the mission.

Little bit of advice if you are having trouble with the Falumpasets. It seems that Gungan Military Bases will spawn at least one more than half the time, so it shouldn't take you too long if you are running those missions.

Good luck.

Bugs ... Bugs and more Bugs.

Started my trials last night and haven't been able to do even one yet.

So before I tossed my computer I decided to logout.

The trials can be very....er....trying...so just keep at it. Eventually you will get them. It is all worth it when you hear that saber ignite for the first time.
