Well I read some posts here on this page and their is people that want jedi "given" to them. There are some that " Power gamed" their way to jedi.

Nobody said jedi would be easy, shoot when i got the game in beta release all that was said about jedi, was what was on the box.

Nobody knew how to get their, nobody knew what it would take. I knew a guy whos brother was in on the pre beta release. They changed it from then. I know that jedi was always hard to get. Trying to loot holocrons then grinding professions after you get your first proffession to grind. Which after a while turned to grinding all the professions.

Which led to the FS village, where you could keep your profession but trade xp, today you trade alot more xp then 2 months ago.

What am i saying, you ask. Well very simple....the only challenge to this game isbecoming a jedi. Those that wanted it and want it today, will eventually get it. If you dont well.....

In memory of my gaming friends that wanted jedi but never got it

Swayzee Master pistol/ smuggler

Vinni Master Pike/ Creature Handler

Anfa

Lindle Aspiring Master Weaponsmith

Aaron Master Droid Engineer

you will be missed,

I'm still not quite sure about the point you are attempting to make. Are you saying that no one has ever liked working their way to becoming a Jedi? Or, are you saying that everyone liked working their way to Jedi? Hence, the proliferation of Jedi in the game?

lol I was thinking the same thing. To type something like that out and not have a point is actually kind of impressive.

Why do you play the game? Is it simply to achieve things because that provides you with a sense of reward and personal achievement? Or do you play the game because it is fun? I'm not poking fun or asking a loaded question here, wondering honestly. To me part of the fun is in the achievement, part of it is do to the gameplay, and part of it do to the social aspects of an MMOG. I think that the achivement is part of the fun. Hey it's fun to level. It's fun to gain new skills. It's fun to gain new items and toys.

My problem with the path to jedi is that, the path isn't fun. Now becoming force sensitive since the revamp is actually fun. Checking those things off the list (though it kind of stinks that there is a step by step list these days, ruining some of the mystique) I'd say is fun for most players. Not only is it fun, but the exploration aspects and the theme park badges expose the player to areas of the game that they might not have seen or took part in. It maximizes what they get out of the gameplay experience.

Once you reach Aurillia I think the fun dilutes quite a bit. The quests to unlock branches aren't bad, maybe they could be a bit better but I like the idea of needing to complete quests to advance. The grinding, however is not fun at all. Your grinding for one reason and for one reason only, because at the end of this long trek you will become a jedi. Sony had to come up with some way to make it tough on players and limit the number of jedi... The problem is the mechanism they choose to limit this is absolutely horrible. It rewards cheesy tactics like grenade throwing, and completely eliminates skill, making it just another time sink. It was poorly designed from the start, and that is really bad considering this was part of a revamp. The original mastery of skills was plain ridiculous, but this is even worse.

As a paying customer everyone has the right to express their thoughts on this, and if they choose to cancel their accounts, or to grind it out and enjoy it when they get there. IMO accomplishing something like becoming a jedi should be a seemingly impossible feat, but it should also be one that can't be achieved by simply sitting in a spot and grinding repetitively for the sole purpose of obtaining it.

I understand the main point you are trying to make El-Carpeta but you have to remember that we are not here to set life goals.

This is a game and it is supposed to be fun. We are not here to make SWG > Life and I doubt that becoming Jedi in SWG is a life goal to anyone.

Still a lot to learn you have, master Athenian.

(some people are exceedingly dedicated to becoming Jedi, why? Maybe they need an /I win so they can finally quit for WoW)

The quests are challenging and fun if you aren't stresseed out over your goal. The Padawan trials are long and unintersting except for a couple of exceptions but it is interesting at least going all over the place for this quest. The xp grind in the middle is very boring. I don't know how to fix that without making the path too easy though.

It's tricky. I think the 3-week bar is fine, maybe too fine actually, maybe not, but they need to keep players occupied, maybe with timed quests.
"Meet old man -> Wait a day -> Get assaulted by sith."

Thiscan be done, so surely timing the path through Force Sensitive can as well. And I'd like to see drama, not piket-onslaught horror.:-)
