What does "luck" do, actually? The description isn't much help. The Inorganic Survey tool is nice, too.

I believe it's supposed to increase your chances of getting decent or more loot. Not 100% sure though.

I've read that it slightly increases the amount of credits you loot form each npc.

A couple of points:

I just finished luck and it appears that all NPCs drop cash. Now, instead of getting nothing or 25 credits, you might get100 credits. I wouldn't characterize this a "significant". The credits have increased, but it's still paltry. The percentage increase might be a lot but the actual amount still sucks

Yes, you need artisan to unlock, but all you need it for is the quest. I dropped some skills temporarilly, took up novice artisan, finished the quest in an hour, and got my original skill back that night. This was not the problem. The problem was you need sense xp, so I spent the last monthdancing and slicing.

BTW Luck was my sixth branch and I defeated Mellichae on Friday. Last night I got halfway thrown the Padawan trials and crafted my training Lightsaber. All I can say the moment was worth the year and a half of grinding it took to get Jedi. Hang in there, you'll be happy you did.
