Lunatic Here,
On one side I do like the village unlock better than the unknown you had to master so many professions even if you had no desire to do a certain profession to get Jedi. Here is my biggest gripe about the new system though; Its still hologrinding! Given the xp transfer system you still have to grind our your Master Profession 30times over to even come close to getting your 6 tiers is an immediate observation I found. And thats if your lucky enough to be using combat as your main form of unlocking and grinding skills. Personally this still sets very sour with me. Senseless griding of this kind is exactly what we wanted to get rid of.
How would I fix this? Perhaps the village should take longer to do in this means: Have all the npcs concentrate in one area of the FS skill choices. Whip only do Reflexes, The Captain do Combat, so on and so forth. Only, instead of unlocking a branch for us to senselessly grind out xp to go up the tier; have each phase mission grant a skill box like Piloting does. Your still forced to wait on phases but you get something for your time if you stick with the missions. When a next phase starts... finish a quest for let us say, Whip, and you get to pick the box you want for completing his mission that phase under reflexes. That actually makes it take longer to get to Jedi but also makes the grind go away and gives the village more meaningful purpose instead of the grind headache its causing. The village is much worse than Hologrinding in that aspect.
I think a fix like the one I've suggested above would be more gratifying for gamers of all types. I like the Quest based unlock mechanic; but it needs to be either or. Either you want us to grind out meaningless xp or its skill granted upon quest completion. Or at the very least I hope xp conversion at the village is going to be overhauled after combat revamp so it isn't impossible to get to Jedi in say, a years worth of active play.
I am sorry for the somewhat aggitated tone of this particular post. It just seems the path to unlock is still a little too much. While it should be time consumming; It shouldn't make a casual gammer feel like this is a profession meant for power-gamers. And thats what it still feels like. At least to this gamer.

Nice post with some good points. However, I must say, I disagree with your idea. If I may be so bold to spread my own humble opinion: I think the senseless grinding over and over has KILLED this game in 2 ways. One, obviously, all anyone does anymore is grind FS. There seems to be a serious shortage of people actually "playing" the game anymore, everyone is "solo group grinding". Two, EVERYONE is going to have a Jedi character. In a few months there will be more Jedi characters than Non-Jedi. Really takes the "fun" out of it. Along those same lines, it is a really unfair system. The devs stated long ago that this game would be equal for the casual player and the "Power gamer", this is not at all how the game turned out to be. Furthermore, this game was originally not a forced "PvP" game, which was a good thing, but now, if you decide to go Jedi, you are forced into PvP. If I could suggest a new system.... of course I dont have ALL the answers, Im not a "know-it-all", but I believe I have a system that would aleviate alot of the short comings of this Jedi system, and the game itself. Definately make the "grind" more of a quest based system, and not so much a "tread-mill". This idea has been brought up numerous times, I dont claim to have come up with it, I just agree with it. My idea (you might want to sit down)...make the Fprce Sensitive unlock RANDOM...yes, I said RANDOM. Not based on how much you play per week, or how long you've been playing in general. The devs could have a set percentage of the game's population that could be "allowed" to be force sensitive. Once they have that established, pick out RANDOMLY someones account. Once a persons account has been picked, s/he could receive an in-game message informing them of some "change" that they feel or whatever. However, once given force sensitivity, the player would either choose to travel that path, or not to. If they choose not to, they would be removed from the "pool", and someone else is picked. If the player decides to travel the path, then they go into the quest based sytem that would eventually lead them to becoming a Jedi. The devs also said long ago that the Jedi would "fluctuate" (sp?) with the population. This is NOT the case now as everyone can see. My idea would allow that to be true. Once the Jedi population is set, it stays there. For example, a server has a player population of 1000 (just for the sake of the example). The Devs could set the percentage at 10%. For all you math wizards out there, that would be 100 slots for Jedi, or Force Sensitive characters. So, for every ten players, there would be one Jedi slot. This would do a couple of things for the game. One, it adds a bit of chance, and suspense. Two, most importantly, it takes away the distraction of everyone trying to become a Jedi. People would just have to play, and if it happens it happens, if not, then continue playing. Thirdly, it would add a sense of "special-ness"(not a real word probably) to the Jedi. The way things are going, if your not a Jedi, your nobody. Talk to anyone you see in-game, I can darn-near guarantee if you ask them, they will say they are grinding FS xp. This would restore the Jedi to their proper position. I understand they are in hiding, and they are hunted. But, if you see a Jedi now, its kind of like....so...big deal. Using the random system would change that. If you actually saw a Jedi then, it would be a BIG deal..........Well, I know its been a long read, I appreciate your time and open mind. As I sais before , I dont have all the answers, just an idea that might make this game better...of course , thats just my opinion, I could be wrong

much easier to read and I did.
Well i think that this may have been up before but many would see themselves fooled since many bought this game so they can be a jedi.
If you take away the possibility to be a jedi some if not many would leave the game for something that they feel is more fun. I think its a good thought though, limiting the jedi numbers. But as long as I can be jedi, err , yes. Many would maybe put it that way. "Make it tougher for other, I already have my jedi" not meaning to flame/troll you, just a thought.
