just a friendly warning to those about to unlock, make sure you really understand visibility. Each turn of the phase loads the BH terminals with so many new names that bounty hunters trip over one another trying to be the first to kill the noob.

The reason so many BH's like to take out new jedi is twofold. It's not about the money either, new jedi are only 25k.

A new jedi has a complete combat template, so its a challenge.

A new jedi can be easily confused by the attack.

New jedi die because of that confusion, be prepared and be ready to use your elite profession to kill the BH. New jedi die because they make the mistake of not having their old weapon equipped (or even in their inventory), grouping with the same people as the village grind and hunting in the same overpopulated areas.

Your transition is to go from being social to being a hermit. Take that transition seriously and you won't be hunted.

Oh, and while you're waiting, pickup some citrus snowcake, vasarian brandyand pikatta pie 25 crates of each if you're buying for the whole jedi grind

Question if you dont mind. I get the entire visibility thing. I have read many posts on this.

My question is with guild members and friends.

Say a guidmate and 1 both unlock at same time and become initiate/padawan within weeks of each other. If we group up to go hunt/gain xp will that count towards visibility? I mean can a low level jedi team up with other low level jedi? I mean if a jedi cant show a jedi his saber ( sounds bad i know ) in fear of the one jedi turning him/her into a BH whats point?

Even jedi went through school and had others or atleast a trainer nearby.

Same for guilds, will i be able to do all the things i have always done with my guild without giving away visibility?

I am not a jedi yet- i am waiting on phase 3, i have all fs xp needed. I hope you dont mind this here i just like to know more in depth on this issue.

Thanks

visibility comes from using force powers near a npc or a player.this include using your saber.Correct me if im wrong but the radius is 32m.Tuning crystals can get you visibility too.Anything that drain your force pool.

The warning is good and all. But I disagree that BH's take mission on low-level Jedi because it is a challenge. If they wanted challenges, they would take on high-level Jedi much more than they apparently do now. They take these low-level missions because they expect them to be easy and because they hate Jedi for some reason. And they are probably right that they are easy in most cases. Even though the young padawan may have a complete non-Jedi template, not many players are actually well-trained in PvP and their template will usually be constructed with the grind in mind - that is for PvE mostly.

why do u say this? BH's are the most professional of all the occupations. It is very business oriented. They have a directive from the Empire, which is to obliterate all Jedi, and they get paid for it. This is game mechanics my friend. Hate is such a strong word......

Important note ot this line of logic....

Jedi had friends who knew they were Jedi....in the OLD REPUBLIC. That was before beign a Jedi became, you know, illegal.

I think the anyoen and everyone visibility system is in place to cut down on the migrating herds of Jedi thaty used to wander the savannah.

Well one reason i asked that was because i "read", yes i read stickies, that a jedi knight/guardian/master can give a padawan some braids? And kind of go out hunting and earning xp with him. Granted this is so the knight wanted gain all the xp, but why would this be allowed if this would cause visibility?

I think knight/padawan teams should happen more, as it did with obi, luke, darth, etc....... There was always an apprentice.

Visibility just sounds like a way to keep the jedi from working together, yet SOE wants to promote groups and team work.

Guess ill go place a home up at the far end of my planet and load it up with buffs, chef food, and everythng else a lone jedi will need

That is a very RP way of looking at it. I do not believe that RP plays a big role for most players in games to be honest. There is a human behind the keyboard of both the BH and the Jedi. The human playing the BH knows he is hurting the human playing the Jedi. If "hate" is too strong a word, then let's say "dislike" instead.

You are right that it is a game mechanics. A very bad one in my opinion that has done nothing good for the game. We will have to live with that game mechanics until/unless we can get it fixed. All it has done is creating hate-tells, accusations of exploiting, creating distrust between players, almost taken over especially the BH forum with whining (and to a lesser extend the Jedi forum). One of the corner stones of SWG has from the start been "no forced PvP". Now we are seeing BH's wanting to extend the player bounty system to other professions. That really scares me for the sake of the game's future.

Even though I don't like this game mechanics I have decided to become a Jedi anyway. I will therefore accept this broken part of the game just like I have to accept bugs and other design oddities. I will play my Jedi carefully so that I hopefully can take as little part of this game mechanics as possible. If I am unlucky and get on the terminals, I will most likely offer a friendly BH to kill me so that I can minimise the xp loss and get back to the grind in peace.

I consider most of the BH's to be like the bullies in the school yard when we were kids. I could live with them then, so I think I can live with them now too.

I still dont see why a jedi grouped with another jedi cause visibility, as long as the whole group is either rebel, imperial or a mix of rebel/neutrals or imperials/neutrals... for example, theres no reason for a rebel jedi cause visibility to another rebel jedi, because why a rebel jedi would want the other mate to be known of beeing a jedi? if jedi is illegal and fiercely hunted, they both have the interest of staying hiden, they both share the same goal, in this case, aid the rebellion... in case of neutrals too, because neutrals are neutrals, they basically dont care about it, so they dont spread around that this or that dude is a jedi... what should cause visibility is a rebel jedi grouped with an imperial jedi, but thats it... even in that case, if both are coverts, theres no sense in it, because one dont know the other is the opposing facction, for each one, the other is neutral unless he shows otherwise

If I trymy best to be nice I can even understand you get visibility for be seen by the most primitive people of dantooine (for example, Dantari, Kungas...) that might not even seen any jedi before, probably have no idea of what it is, and who knows, maybe dont even use language yet for comunication, but hey, I think same facction jedis at least should NEVER cause visibility to each other... I mean, jeezzzz, at least a group of 2 jedis...

Ok so what you really want is an online version of KOTOR. jedis running rampant everywhere. well i say fooyee to that. i am a MBH because i love the RP aspect. i become someone totally different when i hunt jedi. You wait until the first BH comes after you and your heart gets going 100 mph. then you tell me that is wasnt fun. so you lost some exp you said yourself you like the grind. so grind away just be sure to do it in cnet with every1 watching hehe.

i myself like the heart rate I get as I close in. My heart starts pounding when i hit the planet my mark is on, then I send out a seeker and calm down a bit, then i start out for the kill, 1500m, 1200m, 1100m, start eating food, heart's going faster, 800m, 500m, 300m, I slow down and make sure i'm ready, 200m, 100m, he's in range, i target. 10m, jump off the bike and start swinging.

The battle may only last 20 seconds but its the biggest rush in this game. I've yet to experience it from the other side of things though

I never said I wanted Jedi running around all over. The devs could have chosen many other ways to limit the visibility of Jedi in the game if that is the goal. Instead they chose a system that opens up a can of worms.

It is good for you that you enjoy RP. But if you are a reasonable person, I am sure that you prefer if the one you hunt down (and possible cause to lose xp) also enjoys it. If you don't care... well that would just prove my point about the flawed system.

Will I find it fun to be hunted? When I am strong enough as a Jedi and if I don't get ganked so that I don't stand a chance, I might start to see the thrill of it. But that is a long way into the future for me. But like I said before, by starting a Jedi I have accepted the flawed system. And you will not hear a single whine from me when/if I lose xp to a BH - not even if that BH chooses to gank or exploit to kill me. Most likely no BH will cause me to lose xp other than my guild-mate BH who will check the terminals daily for me. That is my silent protest against the system.
