Thread: Feeling the Glow!

Hello!

If the stars align appropriately this weekend, I should be Glowing with the Force by Monday! Over the last fiew days, I've been reading a lot of information on this forum, as well as the SWG website to learn more on what to expect. Unfortunately, a lot of the material is dated (holocron grinding?!) but, ironically, doesn'thave a date stamp! Other articles are apparently more current, but often expect that I have a deeper knowledge of the whole process than I have.

I have some questions that are likely answered elsewhere, but I'm going to ask anyway. I'm hoping some generous soul will kindly answer them, and possibly lead me to current documentation to help guide my path. Now that I've alienated myself:

I understand An Old Man will visit. Can I be sitting in my house on Lok, awaiting his arrival? Or wandering the streets of a Player City?

After his visit, I've got to go kill stuff (woohoo!). Can a buffed TKA 2-1-4-2 complete the necessary task?

Eventually, I get to go to the village! Once there, I have to complete missions, and these missions run in 4 phases. I'm a little confused by this--simply put, I initiallythought each phase represented a different type of Jedi I could become (crafting, medical, etc.) After reading a lot of stuff yesterday, I'm getting the impression I can do all these things, if I choose. Is that correct?

24 boxes...Seen a bit about this. Those are 24 FS boxes? Are these unlocked by the missions and the phases? Do I have to unlock all 24 to become a Padawan (I know there's a trial at the end...) Do these use skill points? I take it I'll have to eventually sacrifice my current professions....that may be a good thing.

Thanks in advance for responses. If you knowof a good current document that is not so much a walk through as it is a "this is how it works" I'd love to hear about it!

I just recently got FS myself. Here's what to expect. I got the old man as soon as I logged in on the second day after getting glowy. You will be attacked by sith a day after that. I was attacked while shopping for weapons in a player city. They are really easy. They are about on par with any of the low level mobs you basted outside the cities as a noob. Ditto the Sith at the camp. However, I got pwned when I went to the village to get my FS quest. So you don't need buffs till your ready to go to the village, and bring some freinds when you go.

You don't unlock boxes you unlock the branchs,These havefour boxes in them, so you need to unlock six branches, which is the 24 boxes. These branches are unlocked in different phases, You can only unlock one branch per phase, each phase lasts 3 three weeks and there are four phases. Each box takes 1 skill point and once you learn them you cannot surender them, after you have filled up six branches the old man will vist again and you will haveto do the exit quest, Then start thePadawan Trials. So the minimum time it will take you without any free unlocks would be 18 weeks. Have fun

One box per 3 weeks? So, is the concept that you unlock a box, then convert XP into it over those 3 weeks, then? Thus, filling up that branch while waiting to unlock your next one?

The Revamp 1.3 document says that you have to purchase 6 complete lines. Are these lines outlined (doh!) anywhere? The document doesn't name them anywhere that I find it obvious what he's referring to.

Thanks for the replies!!!!

One box per 3 weeks?

No , you unlock 1 vertical row that is 4 boxes high (A tree or branch as some people like to call it). This is done every three weeks, depending on what mission you take determines what vertical row gets unlocked.

So, is the concept that you unlock a box, then convert XP into it over those 3 weeks, then?

You unlock thetree (or branch as some call it) that is the vertical with 4 boxes high. You can fill in those individual 4 boxes at any time taking as long as you want, whether you fill them up in a day or a year.

Thus, filling up that branch while waiting to unlock your next one?

Yes, you can even aquire FS XP before the tree (or branch as some call it) gets unlocked, thus insuring when you do unlock that tree, you can just go train to fill up those 4 individual boxes.

The Revamp 1.3 document says that you have to purchase 6 complete lines. Are these lines outlined (doh!) anywhere? The document doesn't name them anywhere that I find it obvious what he's referring to.

Yes, read the Guide to Aurillian Quests v1.4...

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Forcesensitive&message.id=4543

This guide outlines what quests unlock what tree, what phase the quests are on and what the requirements (if any) are in order to take quests.

Ah, I think I did find something I missed before. 6 branches isn't ALL the branches, is it? You select 6 branches, then must get to level 4 in each of those? So, I have to select what I want, from the ?? 16 ?? possibilities?

Do these selections at all affect what I can select once I'm padawan?

I've been looking at this from the viewpoint that the Character Builder offers (where they have the Jedi skills done exactly like everything else). If I'm understanding this correctly, though, this has nothing to do with the 6 branches discussion, right?

Many thanks!

The Aurilian Guide looks promising. I don't think I'd gotten to that link before.

In looking at it, this is how I understand it now--

If I take the Silvarra Mission in Phase 4 (Heal 50 people) and complete it successfully, I will unlock the "Heightened Senses - Healing" branch, correct? But, this has no impact on the other Heightened Senses stuff.

One other question just crossed my mind--am I able to take this quest (or rather, complete it) if I don't have Medic? I'm not sure it would really even make sense to take it.

I understand An Old Man will visit. Can I be sitting in my house on Lok, awaiting his arrival? Or wandering the streets of a Player City?

No you need to be at least 1000 meters OUTSIDE of a player city, not in a house.

After his visit, I've got to go kill stuff (woohoo!). Can a buffed TKA 2-1-4-2 complete the necessary task?

Yes, easily.

Eventually, I get to go to the village! Once there, I have to complete missions, and these missions run in 4 phases. I'm a little confused by this--simply put, I initiallythought each phase represented a different type of Jedi I could become (crafting, medical, etc.)

Force Sensative, not Jedi, there is a difference. The skills benefit Jedi (sort of), buthave nothing to do with your Jedi, other thenonce aquired, theylet you begin the second phase of the Jedi grind.

After reading a lot of stuff yesterday, I'm getting the impression I can do all these things, if I choose. Is that correct?

If you choose to do so, you can fill in all of the Force Sensative boxes. However you only need 6 different vertical rows filled 4 boxes high to start your exit quest, i.e. the Padawan Trials.

24 boxes...Seen a bit about this. Those are 24 FS boxes?

Yes, these become availableafter you make it to the village.

Are these unlocked by the missions and the phases?

Yes, sort of. You complete the mission of your choice during whatever phase the village may be in. In doing so, you unlock the corresponding vertical row that contains 4 boxes. These 4 boxes are now available to be filled in with XP. You do this by gaining regular XP, then talking to Paemos to convert that XP into FS XP. When you have enough FS XP you can then go talk to Nolan to be trained in that box.

Do I have to unlock all 24 to become a Padawan (I know there's a trial at the end...)

At least 6 different vertical rows filled 4 boxes high. NOT 24 single randomly picked indivual boxes.

Do these use skill points?

Yes 1 SP per box.You will use a total 24 SP before you can start on your Padawan Trial, assuming you spent the 24 points on 6 different vertical rows, four boxes high.

I take it I'll have to eventually sacrifice my current professions....that may be a good thing.

As you progess in your Jedi training, you will have to surrender skill points for other professions.

Thanks in advance for responses.

Ah, I think I did find something I missed before. 6 branches isn't ALL the branches, is it?

No, there are a total of 16 different branches (vertical rows).

You select 6 branches, then must get to level 4 in each of those?

Depending on your end goal (I'm assuming to get Jedi) this is correct.

So, I have to select what I want, from the ?? 16 ?? possibilities?

Yes, at least 6 different vertical rows out of the 16. You can pick more if want to, but the minimum to start the Padawan trials is 6.

Do these selections at all affect what I can select once I'm padawan?

No

I've been looking at this from the viewpoint that the Character Builder offers (where they have the Jedi skills done exactly like everything else). If I'm understanding this correctly, though, this has nothing to do with the 6 branches discussion, right?

The Force Sensative skills have nothing to do with the Jedi skills. They may (.i.e Melee Defense, Melee Speed, etc.)or may not be (i.e. Healing, Ranged Speed) of benefit to the Jedi. You have to keep the Force Sensative skills in order to keep the Jedi.

You can change your Force Sensative skills at a later time, by unlocking and training in a 7th vertical row, then dropping a vertical row that you do not want.

Correct, to unlock the other three "Heightened Senses", you will have to wait until another village phase, take and complete the corresponding village quest.

One other question just crossed my mind--am I able to take this quest (or rather, complete it) if I don't have Medic?

No, you have to have the minumim requirements in order to take missions. i.e. for the village quests that require surveying for materials, you must have at least novice artisan. In my experience, the NPC denied my request to take the mission because "You need to be at least xxxx profession...".
