I decided to post this due to the interesting day I've had today with phase 3. I'll try to keep this comical so everyone can get a laugh at something similar you may have experienced. Let me take some of your time, but this may take more time than you think, so you may want to get some snacks...
After thoroughly planning my template, and having 5/6 branches completed, and enough experience saved for the last, today was the day. At 8 AM, My friend informed me that though Saturday was not the planned day for the phase change for my server, it had changed this morning. Without any further ado, we decided we would not wait for jedi friends and get started on the infamous melee accuracy quest. After a quick drive down to the village, with a short stop at a nightsister who failed at attempting to fix my burning bike, but rather destroying it entirely, I got to the captain. I thought to myself what a great day it would be, being finished with the grind. Once i took on the mission, my friend and I were lost. After reading through the quest log several times, and questioning the captain again, we had found out that we were supposed to search the planet for attack forces of the sith and liberate them of any code disks that may contain information. After a search and a strong mind poison later, we had found a spawn. A spawn of 6 sith. After vasarian brandy and synthsteak, my friend and I stormed in. He being a TKM, he didn't do much damage to them. In fact, once I got incapped from the shots of the thugs, he was unable to kill any of the half damaged opponents. Defeated, we returned to the village.
With determination not to use the powers of jedis, we had attempted to make a group. After much debate with people who did not like the fact that we spoke their language, as it would complicate things, we had made our own little group. A group of 4. With one unbuffed wookiee. Needless to say, the sith had another fun session with us. By now, it was 1 PM and I was hungry. My friend was also tired of trying, so we decided on a break.
After about 5 hours, with my friend having scouted the areas for camps and easy targets to kill, we decided we would need a jedi. Once he was in our group, the mission took a whole new turn. We easily disposed of the groups of sith and looted all the data disks we would need. It felt great to know that finally we were getting close to our goal. We went to a camp my friend waypointed whose shield remote we had. My friend had not realized that his enemies were all not as easy as the ones we disposed of, and were in much greater number, and stormed in. He was killed almost immediately. After promising myself not to follow into his footsteps, my jedi friend and I killed 3 thugs by pulling before I pulled 10 thugs too many and was also killed.
8:00 PM. Defeated again by the sith. I was tired, but not ready to give up. Another friend, a rifleman/doctor came to join us, buffing our group once again. Since I could not get credit for turning down the shields and disposing of the enemy, I needed to capture the commander. My friend agreed, and we stormed in once the sith thugs despawned. I burst ran out immediately, and we were on our way to get to the village. So great a day, it was now about 8:10 and I would soon be finished. I would have one of the greatest templates and finally be done with all the grinding I've done in the game, and get the profession I've wanted. With our jedi and rifleman, we made easy work of anything attempting to stop our path...
We were about 500m from the village now. We were tired from the walk, but we had arrived. As I approached the gate, my friends on ventrilo were telling me that I wasn't moving and that something was wrong. I feared it was my connection, but it didn't make sense, as I could still talk to my friends. As I was contemplating what to do, all my friends in unison suddenly said: server shot down. My jedi friend broke into laughter. My friends logged back in quickly and successfully, and anxiously waited for me. I however, had problems and was not able to log back in time. My character who was LD dissappeared from the game world. The commander was tired of waiting to get arrested, and served out his own punishment by what I figured is impaling his throat with his fingers, as he was weaponless and simply died, as my friends described.
My spirit was shattered, and after much thought, I had lost hope, but I tried to help my friend again. Having lost our rifleman and jedi, we were in a group of 8 people, all but two (myself included) tka/commando. We were unable to complete the mission, and I gave up. I used my saved up xp on another unlocked branch which I unlocked simply to get a mission done, ranged accuracy. It was now 10:20 P.M. and the day had not been particularily good to me.
The moral is: Smile, and enjoy the game. Because really, that's why we play. No really, we are all having fun. And if you're not having fun, grind out swordsman and kill the acklay and some krayts.
Feel free to identify with me, all I can do is laugh at what happened today, and really, you should too. Because getting mad and writing something this long in an attempt to make DEV's see how bad this mission and the grind is will really not help at all.
