Force Sensitive Archive

Can someone help me with this, I couldn't see any exact explanation so far.

I'm most interested in ranged defense and melee defense. But as we are only on phase 1 now (almost phase 2), I can't do these two quests yet.

My question is, can I already assigned FS exp to these two branches and benefit from the extra defense bonus they give, or can I only do this afterdoing thosetwo quests in phase 3 and 4?
