Hmmm well you can read all the FAQ and stickys at the top for what people think it is. I did all of that and it still took 2.5 days for him to show up. I was getting tired of sitting at the computer and went to have a smoke when he poped forme. Five seconds later andI wouldhave missed him. My best guess is that its totaly random.

He will show up within 72 hours after you get glowie. My recommendation is go out and enjoy other aspects of the game. He will come and when you least expect it. Plus there isn't a secret chant or ritual you can do to make him come faster. Congrats.....

I got a visit from the old man this morning. Several hours later I was attacked by sith shadows and incapacitated and they took the crystal. Not ten minutes later but the old man is back and gives me a crystal again. Almost instantly I see some sith shadows (2) on my radar I pull each one at a time and kill them. I loot the datapad and it says that I'm unable to read it.
I had heard that if this happens you should destroy the crystal and datapad and wait for another visit from the old man. So I destroyed it. But when I look in my quest journal it still says that I"ve already spoken with the old man and that the sith confrontation is over.
Will the old man visit me again even though he's listed as a completed quest in my quest journal? I've submitted a ticket but I'm hoping to see if anyone else had a similar experience and got to see the old man again.

did you loot one b4 u killed the other? i hear that both need to b dead b4 u loot, and that it will bug u if done different.

There are several posts about this. You only need to put the looted datapad into a bag and take it out. That would have likely fixed the problem with it being unreadable.

i have had the same problem. Killed the first to with some help then looted and it says that i can read the datapad. put them in my bag and that doesnt help either when i take them out. So i went on with the mission i was doing two more sith showed up killed them nothing two untrained wielders of the darkside show up killed them nothing, two force crystals hunters showed up killed them nothing. Finished my mission and went to Endor to help some guild members kill Gorax two old men where there, talked to the first one got the another crystal to replace the one that was taken when i was incaped by the first two sith, the second one wouldnt talk to me. if i look in the quest log it says that both talking to the old man and tha tsith ambush were complete. still cant read the datapads from the sith that i looted. what gives here.

You just need to destroy the datapad, not the crystal too. Next time they come, kill both before you loot anything.
