Thread: Mission versus natural lair..

my otherconcern would be, how do you know it's a natural lair, and not someone elses mission?
someone else's lair is either glowing with a colored mist, or the lair is named like "Huurton Stalker Lair" instead of "Brambles"

You know, I got into an argument in solo group-chat the other day about the topic of identifying random lairs vs. someone's mission lair. I said the exact same thing as above (i.e. if it is "huurton stalker lair" rather than "pile of rocks", then it is a person's mission), but was told that wasn't always true. I've always believed this, but there have been times where I've passed what appeared to be someone's lair. Because I identified it as such, and because I am generally a decent person, I passed it by on the way to my own mission. However, upon returning, I would still see it there. Sometimes, I'll hang around a good length of time salivating over the XP possibilities waiting for someone to arrive at their own mission. But sometimes, that person never seems to arrive. Could the folks who were arguing with me in groupchat have been correct? That perhaps it could be true to say all people's missions are "named" lairs, but not all "named" lairs are peoples missions?
well here's the thing, you will get a mix of players who take missions and cannot complete them. Maybe they die, lose their buff and quit playing that day. These named lairs don't go away until server reboot and there are times I've seen the servers come up and out in the wild are yellow misty lairs. But /who shows nobody around. So I'm not sure if lairs have timers or not.
As for the lairs themselves, there are some that are named and not missions. You can usually tell that by the number of creatures outside the lair. If there are more than 4 creatures standing around, chances are its not a mission unless the lair got tapped and they all healed it back up. I usually only see lairs like this more than 3k from terminals on endor, yavin and dath. But I have not seen them in a very long time.
I think, and could be wrong, that a patch back in April made it so that the lair does not appear unless the character who took the mission on it arrives within 100m of the lair, this was to help prevent kill stealing. Prior to that, it was almost common to take a mission on Dant andafter starting out(on foot) it was crowded enough that you would get the mission completed message because another player or group took it.
Best I can offer is that if you don't want to take other players lairs, then just take missions and hit unnamed lairs. You can always do a /who and if nobody is in the area, then take the lair. In the event that you're taking someone's lair who's /anon and doesn't show in /who, well then that's their fault...
