i disagree with above poster... if your group doesnt mind the agro. Mine never do. For some it makes it more frantic but if your full group of 8 is getting incapped it means one of two things. You dont have any healers or they suck. lol
Ideas? ok. after the first set of animals are around a lair are killed they pop out 1 at a time. Wait for the second to spawn then throw the gernade, 2 animal agro shouldnt be an issue for your full group. If you hold off on the gernade throw for 2 to spawn out you are able to space out your gernades and maximize your xp/gernades. Throwing a gernade into 20 pikets is nothing more than a humorous distraction but remember you can outrun them
Final note: Gernades only agro the animals onto you NOT your group so they are not required to save you or endanger themselves, with that in mind you can use that to your advantage. They can pull them off of you one at a time as you run in a big circle around them with 15 pikets chasin you.

Ineffective....very ineffective. Easiest way to do it is find a high level group with a healer that means at least 4 level 80's. Go to lok and throw a c12 at the lair. The mob around the lair will aggro and incap you which is fine . Get up and wait at a safe distance while your group kills them. Thats roughly 4-8 kills depending on how many the lair spawns and 10k combat xp for each kill from only ONE grenade. by throwing your first nade you will hit the lair thus forcing the second wave to spawn ontop of the first one. By the time you wake up from your 40 second incap about 5 or 6 more should have spawned so throw another grenade at your discretion and get incapped again. Get up and go wait at a safe distance for your group to kill these then help them kill the last mob. By the time it takes your group to kill the gurks and move on to the next lair your 3 incap timer should reset and you should be good to repeat at the next mission.

I have found it works either way... lair or animal as the target... keep in mind the range around the target. Also remember it hits only the animals present not the future animals that spawn. So you do have to keep throwing everytime animals spawn hence the last part. Ineffective? Training animals behind youfor kills is just fun... sometimes the only way if the lair has a mad (dant style) initial spawn around it...

Be respectful of the group. While I was nade-grinding I didn't have a single group complain, but that's because except for 1 or 2 times, (and I warned them first) I waited until there were 1 or 2 singles left and then naded. And before I tossed a nade I checked to make sure I wouldn't aggro mobs from nearby lairs.
The only exception to this was when I was grouped with several Guildies, and knew we could handle anything that came up, then we all took turns aggro'ing everything in the area. lol.
I also only did this when the group had 7-8 members, and all of them were present. There were times when our groups were literally halved with everyone running off to convert. (I had a 900k Combat XP cap. And I could cap out all my weapons and still have 500k to fill. heh.)
As a last thought: If you aren't respectful of the group. expect to be kicked out, a lot. On our server within a day or two we knew who not to invite into our groups anymore. And often they were kicked by the second lair because they refused to follow instructions or started whining about how they wanted all of us to carry them through every lair.
There were plenty of times I had to forgo combat XP to keep people from Dying, and I did, but there were a lot of greedy kiddies wandering around who would sit back and let group members die for their precious combat xp. They never lasted long and ended up spending most of their timein MO looking for groups.
And because of that, I, and most of my guild are done with the grinding, and those kids are still trying to finish up.

There's no real strategy, other than MAKE SURE THE HEALERS KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO TOSS GRENADES. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing someone's health bar go down and tossing a bacta, thus agro'ing the 17 critters that were attacking you instead.
Toss, die, get rez's, rinse and repeat. Once the critters actually die, you get TONS of 3:1 xp.
