Thread: Grinding FS to padawan for 2nd slot, then drop skills?

I have no interest in being a jedi. I do, however, really want a 2nd character. If I get up to padawan, and then make my 2nd char, can I just drop all my jedi skills and maybe even my FS?
Also someone mentioned this is possible, but if I delete my 2nd character I cannot remake it unless I get padawan again. True?
Originally, we were supposed to be able to do exactly as you described... drop Padawan & all FS skills once we opened up the second slot, so we could do whatever we wanted with either slot. This is how it was promised to us for the many months leading up to the Jedi Revamp. Once publish 10 went live however, SOE changed their minds on this & made it so that once you reach Padawan you can never drop it or the 24 skill points that it takes up.
So, basically if you want 2 slots, at least one of them will have to be a Padawan with only 226 skill points available for normal profession skills.
This may still work for you depending on what your plans are for your characters templates. If the template you desire for your main is under 226 skill points total (non-FS points) then you can simply pick the 6 boxes of FS skills that would enhance that particular template... then put away your robe & saber & never look back.

Yes, it's a good benefit for the points, but don't you lose XP when you die, after you make it to Padawan? So you open your character slot, then put away the robe and saber, and you still take the death penalty when you buy it from then on?
Eek.
If that's so, then you really want your FS guy to work those crafting trees, and have your second toon be the combat monkey, OR go full on Jedi and have your second be the Doc/crafter/moneymaker. Me, I'm going route #2.

You're right, you would lose Jedi xp everytime your Padawan dies... so you would have to be absolutely sure about your plans for both chars. Using the Padawan char as a crafter or healer or entertainer would make losing Jedi xp not that big a problem since they usually aren't out getting killed on a regular basis.
But, if you can't make the healing/crafting/entertainer char with the 226 point restriction, but you could make the combat char within the 226 points, you may want to still use the Padawan as your combat char as long as you are certain you never want to make that char a Jedi later on.
Correct, you can never drop it... which is why you have to be careful of the permanent 24 skill point loss when planning that char's template. You will only have 226 points total to use for regular profession skills on that char... ever.
