Thread: Question about combat XP

Okay, I'm a retired Bounty Hunter who's decided to go doctor/artisan/pistoleer. Now, I want to eventually master Pistoleer, so I guess I'll have to drop most of the artisan stuff, but I have a question about Combat XP. Can I drop all of Ranged Support in the Marksman tree and still keep all the accumulated XP I have? Will it affect me as a Pistoleer? Would it be wise to keep the Ranged Support tree?

Thanks in advance guys.

Nevermind, someone had just asked this and I didn't see. If a mod sees this post, please delete. My questioned is answered. Sorry for the redundancy.

First some background:I've just visited the village for the first time and I'm about to unlock my first FS branch. My current CL is 72 and I'm a Master Smuggler/BH 3344. I have my combat XP capped at 350k.

My question is: Would it be more helpful/beneficial to use this combat XP to become a Master BH (it takes 340k)and thenI would beCL 80 which would make it easierto get XP and complete all the FS related quests or would that XP be better spent converting it to FS XP?

On a related note, at what point in the FS to Jedi process do you have to start surrendering your core profession skills? It seems that you need 24 points to complete the FS portion so you're fine there, but I'm unsure how the point structure works beyond that. Does anyone know of a thread explaining this? I didn't see it in the stickies.

Thanks in advance for any info/suggestions.

About half way through padawan I think you start to loose most of your decent skills, which is why BHers go after the middle level padawans. No decent core professions and not enough jedi power.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm leaning towards spending it on becoming a Master BH since I think that would make my life a lot easier during the grind. And if I decide to give up my pursuit of being a Jedi, I'll be set for whatever else I want to do in the game.

Also, thanks for the info on giving up your skill points.

I had the exact same question about skill points freeing up them for FS skills. With my template now I will only have 3 or 4 SP left when i get to CL80. So do ineed to not get something and keep some SPs available for when i get to the villiage?

Defintely get your grind template finished before you grind. That 350k of Combat XP is just a drop in the bucket for the village. Get Master BH first.

Remember, you don't need to spend any SP or lose any of your grind template skills to actually do the village grind. You can bank all that fs xp till you're 6th unlock, then purchase all 24 boxes at once.

I thought you had to unlock skills and get the skills as you go or you couldnt complete the villiage

well just keep saving like im doing. im fixing to have enough for 2 rows. i cap combat xp with nades4 times a day at 350k so i can get a whole row in 3 days. And someone correct me if im wrong but doesnt it take 4.8 million fs xp to get the combat prowess tree done? (i hope so because thats nothing i can get that easy)

FS xp doesnt cap like regular xp? Regular caps at 2 times the skill box you need next.

You have to unlock the skills/branches as you go, yes, but you don't have to train in any of the boxes yet.

It's just like building up any regular profession where you fill boxes. Except the cap on fs xp is infinite (or at least so high that myself and noone i've heard has capped it).
