No my question isnt about what does it do, I already have the jist of that.
What my question is about is, will i be able to unlock this box using my scout/ranger skills?
I have submited this question to the "submit feedback" area on the swg main site, but being that I may never hear a reply, I thought I'd ask some one here.
The past 2 phases have required either medic or artisan. I would feel kinda upset (to say the least) if I have been able to dump all my scout/ranger xp into a skill branch I cant even unlock. Why allow transfer of xp into something a scout/ranger cant even unlock?
any help on this matter would be appreciated.

To unlock you need novice artisan. It only takes about an hour to complete the quest. I dropped some combat skills temporarily and took up novice artisan and then went back tomy combat template.

yeh, thats the part I know. I am concerned about not being able to use my scout/rangers skills to "unlock" this branch.

You need novice artisan to unlock the skill, because it requires surveying.
Once you have unlocked it you can earn FS XP for it by getting scouting XP (or healing, dancing, surveying, etc.)

well that blows. means ill have to dump master tkm or something and one box to get my points back then regrind them after i ditch artisan to unlock. h8 for devs over this one.
why not just allow scout/rangers to bring back or socut out supplies of meats/bones/hides for making things instead of surveying...

Just a friendly suggestion: try to think of "FS Grinding" as its own profession, unrelated to anything else. Unless you have infinitely more patience than me, you will eventually resort to changing your entire template to "Master FS Grinder" to fill your 6 branches
. Don't worry about scout/ranger skills being useless for FS... there are many moreprofessions that are even more useless. And make sure you do the math so you know what you're in for when it comes time to actually FILL the branches, not just unlock them.
As far as heightened senses XP is concerned, it will take youmonths(if you're really good) to fill a single branch using scouting XP. The math:Each branch requires 9.8M scouting experience. The best-case scenariois to kill rancors and get about 2k scouting XP per hide.Kill about 70 rancors to cap scouting XP (140k at master ranger)and fly to the village to convert. Repeat 70times to fill a branch. Ugh.
Mostpeople do the doc "rez grind" for senses XP,but I prefer Entertainer.I can't violate the EULA and instruct you on the *best* way to do this... but if you have a computer you can use 24 hours a day, live on the edge, andput in some careful research and ingenuity, you can easily grind out anentire senses branch in 5 days by shelling out only 20k or so credits. So get a few branches and then go back to enjoying your ranger profession
.

i think my plan is as such...
1. on the day of phase shift, drop master tkm and one box in tk only after grinding out and capping the xp in tk.
2. take novice artisan to complete the mission required to unlock the luck branch.
3. dump artisan, and reapply the xp i earned and possibly grind a lil bit more to get back my tkm.
4. with the remaining 12 points i have, take the 2-3 boxes i will already have in lucksince i have been dumping xp into them since i started this mess.
5. finish grinding out luck and work on my remaining combat trees to finally unlock.
thanks for the input peeps. sure wish the devs would have maybe made a regular quest for scouts to go hunting "meat beasts" for food for the village instead of totally neglecting that profession in the unlocks.
now to wait til next phase and then one more full duration so i can unlock another phase 3 tree and im good to go.
