What determines credit for a kill?

I have been told group damageor solo damage. So far as I could see I only got credit when I did the most damage. Groupmates kept saying they were not getting anycredits even when I saw credit for my kills. I never saw credit for any other kills except when I killed my own target and took more than 50% of its health..

Lastly, let me ask this...if the loot option is set to free for all in your group and you loot what killed is that fair or should it be on lotto for those who don't seem to have the ability to cause enough damage and get a kill?

I ask for two reasons...one, I didn't even know they changed/fixed the loot options since pre-CU and how do you even change it?

Two..If the the people getting the kills are CL 75-80 and there are CL50-74's in the group...should they get loot just for being in the group and not making any kills since their damage does not seem to be counting towards any group kill credit?

Or I am completely wrong and somehow group damage credit is working and I amd just not seeing it?

I'm a CL56 Master Carbineer. I completed the Ranged Speed quest yesterday, in two waves (I started it a bit into the first wave, and had 9 Pirates/29 Outlaws left at the beginning of the next wave. I may have been able to do it in one wave...)

I didn't care about the loot so other than saying the group looting rules are set by the group leader, Free for Allbeing far the easier to deal with as a group in the mass chaos of the Sith attack waves, I can't comment.

As for getting credit for kills. I noticed it too a while before I was getting any credit. I deicded to move farther away from the main battle, and shoot from about 35m away. As soon as somethign spawned within range I opened with an area attack. Sure they all agro-ed me, but it seemed the fasted way. With the 90-degree arc of Full Auto Area I hit just about every targetable thing on the screen. Don't know if I was the first to hit any particular creature but the the AoE attack I seemed to be geting about one kill/credit per Sith mini-spawn.

Hope that helped.

to get credit you actually had to hit the target and your group had to be the one who the did most damage, outdamaging other groups

Ahh so everyone in my group would have had to hit the same target at least once in additon to our group overall doing the most damage to it...

These ranged folks are so lucky they took away spin attack for TK's...

If you are grouped up, the best thing for your group to do to get the kills is to actually "work like a group". I'm not saying that the group isn't. This is under the assumption because majority of SWG groups are in it just to be grouped and not actually act as a single entity. If one person was chosen to be the main assist (one whom all the rest of the group will assist off of), i garauntee that you will be able to finish with 1 wave. The group I was with had their act together. When someone was complete, that person didn't leave. He/She stayed to ensure that everyone in the group completed their quest.

Yah I can see that..oddly enough each group I formed and the folksI invited tended to be melee or docs...I don't think I had any ranged past Pistoleers as far as I remember.

Granted I didn't have ahard time getting my kills as an MTK but I suppose what happened is most of my group chose not to /assist me in my targets and grabbed what they could...so therefore we did not act like a group...I lead poorlyI suppose.

Then again it seems the Jedi and Rifleman spamming spin and AOE attacks have the advantage over melee (except Pikemen using a PH or KK's) this phase...so they can attack multiple targets and get multiple credit...
