Something interesting to begin the discussion...

Cryptic thereby defies a troubling trend: Internet games, first ballyhooed as the next big thing, have struggled. Electronic Arts dropped perhaps $30 million (EA won't confirm it) building, marketing and supporting Sims Online, but it drew at most 80,000 users, and the fad has faded. Users said Sims, with no monsters and no fighting, was a bore. (lol)

LucasArts and Sony released Star Wars Galaxies last year, only to get slapped with a Worst Game of the Year award from Computer Gaming World, upset that the game had no spaceships and made it all but impossible to become a Jedi. (Sony says both problems have been fixed.)

They fixed the spaceship problem -yeah butit took a really really long time, like they hadn't really thought of it till the day before they said it was coming out...

But the JEDI issue.. hmmm

The force sensitive quests take a really really long time too...

Firstly if you haven't been given free slots for your patience then you gottaget all those badges to get glowy... which is mostly fun. Theforce sensitive missions are mostly fun too. On the other hand the grind for force sensitive experience is not fun, it is lame.

It takes me 1-1.5 hours to max unarmed exp with the combat expthat gives me 60000 force sensitive exp. Beforethat I have to get a full HAM buff that which can take anything from 10-40 minutes. Then I have to traveltothe Dathomirvillage n back. This journey could potentially be up to 40 minutes. And then there is other time consuming activities likechatting andshopping. So in the end it takes up to 3 hours to bank my 60000 force sensitive exp.. and for me three hours is enough time spentsitting on a computer chair and its game over.

1200000 force sensitive exp per branch, so I need to max exp 20 times per branch thats 120 times until I can even begin the jedi grind. OKa year ago I was logging on every day but now I log once or twice a week at best. Now if I play twice a week its going to take me 60weeks to become a jedi initiatethats OVER A YEAR of really really boring game play, just to earn the right to swing a novice glowy nerf stick.

I want to be a Jedi and the long time thing isn'tso bad when you consider that you are meant to EARN JEDI and there aren't spose to bemany Jedi around anyway (according to ALL versions of the story)

But the thing thatbothers me isTHE GRIND IS REALLY BORING. Sure I don't have to grind the exp but then its going to take me years to become a jedi. The grind and the travelling is tedious and this part of the game LACKS CREATIVITY.

SWG isn't the worst game of the year but for meit seems to be ending with an anti-climax. What do other people think?

Are you enjoying the force sensitive grind?

Please, what is the most enjoyable way to survive the grind?

Honestly I am having a blast with it. I get into solo groups and most of us are grinding also, so we all just chat and have fun in group chat and you make new friends. Plus i always need money so what better way to do so. Hell if i was just standing around not grinding then there would be nothing to do IMO. You can only do the DWB, vette, etc. so many times. Just have fun doing it and meet new people. If you go in hating it and complaining then you won't have fun at all. With space if you need a change of pace do a couple space missions or something then get back to it.

FYI: NIghtsisters and krayts give xp too. You don't have to grind it. You can get a good amount of xp hunting either one in your buff session...

I prefer this system to the Holocron grind with hidden professions. At least I can play a profession I want to play and I know where the end game is.

Actually, there aren't many Jedi around. I see plenty of lightstick-happy 1337 dewds, but it's rare to see any wise, justice-giving Jedi. So take that as consolation.

I offer you this advice: "Grind" on nightsisters and crazed Geos. Tons of good loot come your way, and it hardly gets boring seeing the stupid people run out of the cave with 6 creatures following behind. (My group members and I all start making bets on how long the guy lasts before he must clone. )

At first i wascapping every buff then it was getting really boreing.ThenI startedleisurely grindingandI have been having a lot more fun doing it. You have to wait three weeksto open the next tree and three weeks is plentyof time to grind it. I think somepeople are in such a hurry to grind that tree and cap the next, that is sucking the fun from their gameplay...imho.

this also forces you to master another profession if you are not combat oriented, like, there is only one crafting tree, so that takes what... 12 weeks to complete? and THEN there is the senses which requires you to take up another skill, like dancing slicing and such. COMBAT takes forever because you need to get buffs, kill 30 bazzillion thngs come back, get the exp, and such.

What I think it should be is something along the lines of... oh, QUESTS that give you a box! not quests that let you TRAIN in a tree after you grind 1 million (or so) force exp per tree, and wait 3 weeks for another one to begin! what is the point of slaying those things, as the jedi say "they are not all combat" so why must WE be to become them? the quests are good, but the grinding is unrelated and riddiculous! since when to become a jedi must you pay 12000 credits for a buff, get into a solo group and slay 300 critters? makes NO sense. We cant even USE the force, thus taking away the "force sensitive". even those little kids coudl use it in ep 2, what do we get? "kill these people, then go to dantooine and grind 1million force exp, because its teh way of the jedi"

shrug I can rather easaly get 160k xp on a 3.5 hour buff. I'm a TKM/master sword. I can cap out both in roughly an hour each. then I take a crate of C12s and do too more lairs to fill up the extra 120k combat xp. usaly I buff at my player city on dant... cap my xp and run out to the village. I usaly get back to the outpost to head off planet about the time my buffs go so I just shuttle back and rebuff or log. that comes out to 7.6 caps (or roughly 8 round trips) per line. if I decide to be lazy and not use the grenades for the extra combat XP its still only just over 10 trips (probably picku p the extra xp just in the combat xp from finishing the lair once caped). to be honest I could probably get around 300k or mor FS xp per buff cycle useing just grenades if I was doing biznatch missions on dath but I detest that planet and wont spend any more time there than I have to. The thing is I go do other things besides grinding. one day I may spend one or two buffs grinding and then probably wont grind for several days... I'll go run a vett mission or go on a raid or maybe run some missions for money while chating with friends. best way to keep from burning out on it is to just spread it out do some casual stuff that earns xp slowly and ocasionaly do a concentrated grind.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

i have to admit ilike the storyline and village quests to unlock. but after awhile grinding does get boring and monotanouys but now the jtl id here i can break it up a bit and o a few space missions wheni get tired of it then go t back to grinding fs xp where as before had nothing but grinding to do

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

Worst Game of the Year? Pfft look at who it was given by. Apparently they never played SWG to give it the worst game of the year award. SWG is the best MMORPG that I have ever played. I have played AC2, Eartht And Beyond, and Lineage 2, along with a slew of RPG's and a whole lot of shooters, and SWG comes out on top of them all for me and im a first month from launch player.

Is the grind hard? YES! Is it Boring? YES! Is it really worth it? Not really, but it sure is cool looking and somewhat fun to play. Its just the mentality of playing a jedi that gets ya. Its the fact that you busted your rump to get a character that few ppl and i say that compared to the amount of ppl who play, what 500k ppl now and still going? Their really are not that many jedi if you look at the big picture of all subscribers combined.

Im halfway through my FS grind with no free unlocks and as it does get boring at times, its very easy to stop for a few days and do something fun or like another poster said, just go hunt some major mobs!

Anyways good luck finding your groove in the course of your journey to Jedi and may the force be with you!

Hey thanks everyone, these posts do work.

First let me say, MERENDEL YOU ARE A MACHINE!

Secondly yeah I should bring more beer and hunting in solo groups on Dantooine while chatting is actually quite fun albeit somewhat slower. Also Geno caves would yield more loot so good advice on all fronts. And geez yeah I should be hunting baz on Dath doh!

What I've been doing is going to the squill caves maxing unarmed then heading all the way to Dath. Probably still a fast way to grind but yeah I gotta snap outa that trip... (I had a nightmare where I was in the Squill caves with looming squills trying to munch me!)

I thinking a combination of different places and groups, and the unarmed sword/pikeman granede skill mix will make it all good.

Nice creative input. Yeah I gotta find that groove, lol.
