Can this quest be reset in any way, shape or form? My third camp has spawned in one of those wonderfully large Dathomir trees... and the Captured guy refuses to spawn. Speaking to Whip just seems to upset him more and more

Any help appreciated.

I remember the last time someone mentioned something about building a camp on that spot and the tree will disappear. But I can't be totally sure....

If the camp is far from municipal zones/POIs you should be able to set a camp and despawn the tree.

When I did investigation many missions were bugged and the npcs where into trees, rocks or 6 feet under the ground (no, not dead

) and camps have "fixed" a lot of missions for me

I don't have scout at all... spose I should go looking for one :/
