I've come to realize something about the FS Grind:

The important thing is not to grind all the XP you need to get your Padawan at the same time you're finished the Village. What is important is to Get a Double Mastery so that you'll be CL 80.

If you do this, and finish the Village, ( opening all the trees that you need and the corresponding branches), you finish the Village, but don't have the branches filled. Once all your branches are open, you can concentrate on getting the XP without pressure, and maintain your CL, and when you're done, you have a Padawan that's CL 80. After that, you go through the Padawan Trials, and then start getting Jedi XP. But don't drop anything in your regular template untill you've got the Jedi XP to train for something there. If you do this, you'll never drop CL too far, and be able to defend yourself from BH's. Besides, imagine the supprise of the BH's when they come for you, and instead of running to a 50 or so meter "safe" distance and Incapping you, then DBing you easily, they try this tactic and you DON'T chase them , but whip out YOUR BH weapons and using the new won FS Bonuses, YOU incap THEM, then DB them for the win!!

How's this for a tactic guys?

If you couldn't bank xp, it'd be a great idea. But you can.

If you wait till you unlock all phases (18 weeks'ish) then grind the xp, another 15+ weeks at least you're just taking even longer. Do it if you like (its your game) but if you want the fastest method, bank all your xp as you go and unlock as the phases change. Right now I have all my fs xp banked and my last phase is coming up now (phase 4). I'll complete that, drop some sundry skills for my 24 points, train all 6 trees and then wait. I could have been cl80 through the whole village experience if I'd wanted to but a) I was Master Tailor or Master Weaponsmithfor some of it, and b) there was no such thing as cl's when I started my quests!

My real advice though would be... forget jedi! Enjoy the game, explore, play, try all the cool profs out, do some crafting, some ranged combat, some melee combat, some healing, go camping, try some social profs, tame creatures, visit POI's (and I don't mean follow a guide to the wp, stand there for 5 seconds then fly off again - go look around), go find cool stuff (oasis' on Tattooine, abandoned AT-AT's, hang out at Jabba's Palace and soak up the atmosphere), find out how the game works.. by then you'll probably be glowy anyway, and all set to start the path to jedi.

If you've done the post-CU character start up that makes you think the only thing worth doing in the game is jedi... it lied to you! Jedi is probably THE most tedious, drawn out and pointless thing you can do here, and at the end of it you get to be part of a profession that is probably the least happy of anyone playing (check out their forums!). The reason it's pushed down your throat is that it ensures SOE at least 5 months of your ££ $$ or local currency, and they assume that all you new players are Episode 1-3 fan bois who just wanna wave a saber. This game has SO much more to offer than that and frankly Jedi Knight 2 is a FAR FAR easier, cheaperand less broken way to play with a light saber!

Like life, this game is what you make it.. don't follow the crowd!
