Thread: This is sneaky and lazy

Yep another post on the combat xp conversion rate...

I don't necessarily have a problem with the rate but more the way they 'fix' such a major factor in the game without any kind of decent warning and the fact that it doesn't really change a lot.

Those who completed their FS grind in a matter of weeks are going to say this is a welcome change but those of us still grinding simply find us spending more time and more money....and for the devs to implemement such a change without warning that affects our time and money is simply unfair.

But the bottom line is this will change very little. Its not going to halt the number of people getting Jedi as it doesn't address the core problems with the village as an unlock mechanism.

The ONLY way the FS will prosper is by making the questsa LOT more involving and difficult. Sure keep these xp requirements (heck nerf them again to 100:1) and the 3 week gaiting of each phase but make the unlocks hard and varied. Driving around in 10k circles 10 times (or 20 for a banner) is just an example of the weak ideas involved. Devs have to realize that simply making it long and boring will not deter a lot of people.

Once you foster the idea that going to the village every 3 weeks doesn't necessarily mean that you will succeed in an unlock you will start to reduce the new Jedi population. Reward gifted gamers not patient ones. Plain and simple.

Oh and I have seen a few replies to similar posts saying if you don't like this grind then you will suck at Jedi because its longer and much harder....

To those of you who have heard this - I have seen my guildmate fully template his Jedi from noob paddie in 3 1/2 weeks on kashyyk. This is hardly the 'painful months' itused to take to get a knight level template. FS has been the 'hardest' aspect of grinding Jedi for a while now.....and they just made it harder.

I think lazy would be the people who are complaining that they have to grind more.

Some of us earned xp the respectful wayinstead of going to places in games and doing the afk grind etc.

If you read my post you'd have realized that the extra grinding is not my complaint. I have a problem with the 'fix' in the fact that a) they gave little warning and b) they figured that simply nerfing xp conversion rates will solve all there problems with Jedi population instead of realizing the whole village needs an overhaul. Simplistic quests with innane grinding is not the solution.

I agree that the village is still FAR easier even now. I have already put one toon through the village - all pre-cu.

I'd like to see reduced xp requirements with rock hard unlock quests that are lengthy and challenging to the extreme. Sure send me away to grind out experience BUT every 3 weeks we should be heading back to the village far from certain we will actually unlock he desired branches.

Actually, I do go to the village every three weeks concerned I may not unlock the branch I want because it could be bugged.

I disagree. The basic subcription is 15/month. If the average player pays their account monthly, that is $180/year spent on this game. Now, a power gamer type player could complete the grind in a matter of months (given the 3 week phases). That is someone who can spend hours uppon hours grinding. In contrast, a person who say works 8 hours with a 1 hour commute, with family, children, responsibilities, etc, might have 1-2 hours/day, or even just a few times a week. How long will it take that person to unlock? A yr? 18months? 2 yrs?

at 12 months, that is $180 spent on a game.

at 18 months, that is $270

at 2 yrs, that is $360!!! For a single game? I can buy an xbox and a few games with that.It is very unreasonable for SOE to create a system where the end game cannot be done in less than 6 months by a casual player. It boils down to how muchmoney can SOE milk from it's unsuspecting player base before they give up and leave the game.

Jedi is the endgamefor many. The fact is, if they didnt want this many, then the path toJedi should have been awell kept mystery. It should have never been published in the first place. This is a game, but it is also a cash cow. The "grind" is how SOE justifies this robbery of it's customer's with their full consent and knowledge.
