Greetings and congratulations!

Please resist all temptation to begin your padawan trials. When I completed mine about 2 weeks ago they were relatively easy and straightforward. Not much combat at all. You are so close to having your very first lightsaber . ..but please resist the tempation to craft it. Why you ask?

ONCE YOU CAN CRAFT A SABER YOU ARE JEDI INITIATE and ANY DEATH RESULT IN NEGATIVE XP PENALTY!

There are issues with leveling jedi right now since the CU. Many young padawans, myself included, simply cannot advance in level. Grouping is not an option with BH running rampant everywhere. So enjoy playing your characters and just be patient. As long as you dont complete the trials to the point of jedi initiate youcan die all you want with no xp loss.

Congratulations again on unlocking and welcome to purgatory!!

I would have to agree. Starting out Jedi wouldn't be a great idea at the moment because most likely you will die a few times and that initial grind to Novice LS is a biotch already without being in the hole 100k.

The Devs have a lot to fix for Jedi. A LOT of work.

Levelling is very truly broken right now.

I know it sucks, but not as much as having lightsaber 0404 and you can't kill anything near your combat level....so you kill lower level stuff....and get no xp!

In other words, as the original poster said - welcome to purgatory. I'm stuck in limbo because I can't grind or level Jedi in any way.

actually....if a Jedi goes in a group and says screw vis (right off the bat) if he is getting 500 Jedi exp per kill in that group (level 78-80 mobs..group help) then he could get novice LS fairly quickly

If I go to a shrine and start my trials over, do I lose the initiate box and start at trial 1? Would this stop me from losing xp?

This is gonna sound CRAZY to those of you who have unlocked your Jedi. Absolutely crazy.

If you are NOT on the terminals, dump EVERY non-Jedi COMBAT skill you have. Well, MAYBE keep some medic. But otherwise DUMP it all.

Yes, I know this is basically eliminating your only defenses against a BH attack. Staying off the terminals is your best defense against a BH attack. Then grind like a normal newbie would. Grind on the start planets outside the cities people don't normally run out of (that would be any NPC city except Mos Eisley, Anchorhead, Bestine, Coronet, Theed, Kaadara, etc.). It will be a sickeningly slow grind... but you will be able to collect XP this way.

With all your old non-Jedi skills your combat level is too high to grind with your Jedi abilities. Might want to surrender down your skills slowly until you hit a point where you can kill things with your lightsaber. Honestly, I suggest keeping medic... you NEED to be able to heal.

OR

Find some carbineer/rifleman that you TRUST and are NOT idiots. Two fold qualifier there. NOT idiot and you trust.

Everyone takes missions. They stand 35 meters away from the creatures. Jedi walks in. Jedi takes a few swings to do some damage. Then, the ranged group members unload on the creature. They either kill it or pull aggro. Either way, the Jedi survives. This is a MORE effective way to grind, but it also involves having people you trust around. They get within 32 meters of you... you need to run home and log off for 3 weeks.

If you have already started your padawan trials . . .it's ok .. .JUST STOP NOW before you get to the point where you craft a lightsaber. It is after you craft your first lightsaber that you qualify for the death penalty.

What i suggest is this . . .rather than progress now . . . use this opportunity to respec to the profession you would like to play. Respec to that profession and play that profession! Go out . . .hunt in groups . . .get xp and have fun. And if you die . . .you DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A DEATH PENALTY because you are NOT a Jedi Initiate yet!

This is the most frustrating part for us paddy's who are full fledged Jedi Padawan. If we die . . .FOR ANY REASON (with the exception of dying in space) then there is a death penalty applied. There are too many Respec BH running around killing paddys left and right. It's not worth it to get in the hole. Your training saber will do about 50-90damage.

DON'T LISTEN to the people who say "oh just go with a group". YOU WILL GET ON THE BH TERMS AND YOU WILL DIE WHEN THE BH COMES FOR YOU!

DON'T LISTEN to the people who say "drop all your non-jedi skills to lower your combat level". YOUR COMBAT LEVEL WILL BE SO LOW YOU WONT BE ABLE TO EQUIP EVEN YOUR TRAINING SABER!

Just try to have patience. there is progress being made . . .slowly . . .at a snails pace . ..but at least the ADK can be used on lightsabers again. It will all get worked out in the end. But for now just enjoy whatever template you want to play and don't go so far down the rabbit hole to qualify for the death penalty negative xp.
