So what do you think; is TKM with its natural armor the way to go for low level Jedi. It seems to me that TKM with a combination of either Pikes or Swords is the way to go. Is this the best way to go? I've been having a lot of fun with ranged templates but melee is definatly the smart way to go I think. Any thoughts or suggestions?

dont think the TKM armor works while you are loosing a lightsaber, so no. This wouldnt work too well as far as I know.

In the pre CU documentation (if you can call it that ) it said that TK armor bonuses would not worth with sabres, so it doesn't seem to be the way to go. Personally I'm going fencer and as much of Doc as I have skill points for. No reason for it, I've been a fencer for a long time so why not keep it. The Doc is to heal myself and give mini buffs to try to keep myself alive while doing grinding for force xp. Will it work? No idea. Guess I'll find out soon enough. lol

Ah I did not know that TK armor does not work. Now Doc is looking more appealing. And a melee profession for added specials. Pikes, Swords or Fencer seem good now. Is there any advantage for one over the other?

With the /respec ending soon, I really need to be making this decision if I don't want to grind out another template. That TK armor has thrown a wrench into the works.

take the defensive lines from Swords, Pikeman, and TK. TKM is not really needed as much as Pre CU. Pick up novice healer and you can drop doc/medic. I used it at novice Pre CU but have since dropped it as the time to heal is slower than force heal. If you are planning on using the higher (lvl 60) stims, you will need to make sure your level is at least that. Dabbling can drop your level below 60 very easily.

Yes, but if you're out grinding with your saber and you get in trouble, consider this:

Asa TK, you click ONE hot button to switch to your knuckler, which will unequip your saber . This, as far as the game is concerned, reverts you back to TK status, granting you your unarmed damage bonusesas well as the TK innate armor. With one click, you are in ideal Teras Kasi fighting mode, both defensively and offensively.

As any other melee profession, you must switch to that melee weapon, then proceed to equip all of your armor in order to be in the ideal fighting mode.

As a lowly Padawan, I can tell you... those precious seconds can, and will, save your hide.

Very nice. Any advice on what skills to compliment TKM along the way?

Thanks for helping out a fellow Kaurian.

Well, if you figure that out, post-CU, let me know as well!

I've toyed around with a couple of different templates, some a bit more radical than others, but I think that Swordsman seems to best compliment a melee-oriented Jedi Initiate. You get good defenses, both ranged and melee, as well as plenty of general melee speed and accuracy which help you out in any other melee profession.

A very fun template that I've enjoyed playing with is that of TKM / 0/4/3/4 Pistoleer.

You get all the bonuses of being a TKM that I mentioned above, plus when BH's try to kite you or stay out of melee range? They NEVER see the Pistol specials coming... Improved Stopping Shot gives a nice root that you can use to close in to ideal TKM range, not to mention the delay that you get with Improved Disarming Shot, the fun of Intimidation Shot... the list goes on.

I've been playing with Pikes lately and I'm enjoying them. I may end up switching to Swords because in the end I know they probably are better suited for a new Jedi. The first day of the CU i switched to a master pistoleer. I never considered it for a template until now. The specials you've mentioned are nice and have lots of good uses. Looks like I'm going to have to make a decision pretty soon.

Also; can I use my regular melee specials with a light saber? It seems like haveing knock downs and intimidate from Pikes could be useful.

Thank you.
