I'm about to enter the Aurillan village. I read in the FAQ it said to plan very carefully how you go about the phases and quests. I don't understand how the phases work at all. Can someone clear that up for me?

Every phase goes for 3 weeks. In each phaseu can choose from4 different skill branch, but u can unlock only 1 in a phase. If u start an unlock mission u must finish it before the phase shift. After unlocking a branch u must fill it with xp.U need 6 fully filled branch to proceed to the exit quest.

Here is an example:
Currently we are in phase3 , the available skill branches in this phase are :
Combat Prowess: Melee Accuracy
Enhanced Reflexes: Ranged Defense
Heightened Senses: Luck
Crafting Mastery: Experimentation
If u want to unlock ranged defense u ll have to go and talk to Daagerin and finish the quest he gives u.After finishing his quest u wont be able to unlock more skill branches in this phase. So u can start grinding the xp needed to fill the branch u ve just unlocked. In phase 4 u ll be able to choose from another 4 skills and so on.After u ve unlocked and filled 6 branches (thats 24 skill box) u can proceed to the exit quest.

WOW good job. It's like something finally clicked, I understand it now. Here's what I'm thinking of doing my 6 branches on. Can you give me feedback since I'm kinda a n00b when it comes to FS knowledge.....
Melee Speed/Melee Acc/Melee Def/
But that brings up a couple diff questions...
1. There is ranged weapons banches, but as of now are there any ranged weapons for FS?
2. If I decided to do healing would I still have to use my packs from medic, or is FS healing done with out med supplies.
3. If I don't choose crafting at all, am I going to be able to craft a lightsaber?

Ranged defense is usefull others are crap.Until u want an FS rifleman or so.But if u go for a jedi ranged acc , speed are useless

These fs skills have no connections to jedi skills.U can craft your saber without having any other fs or non fs crafting skill. For jedi healing u wont need medic or stimpacksaltough medic is usefull in the early times cause your jedi will be very vuln.So keep medic until u have some better lightsaber and force healing skills.

As i see u r swordsman and medic too.If i were u i would keep sword and medic just as a life insurance.U can keep politician too according to the devs forum politician will no longer take any skill points after pub 12.1 wich is today. When u are done with the village and u can start your jedi drop creature handler that will give u enough skill points to start up with your jedi.Later when your jedi gets stronger and ll need more skillpoints u can start dropping the other skills.

I am glad this came up because I have a couple questions also.
1. I just unlocked combat prowess novice and trained melee acc 1. If the phase shifts and I have not completed the entiremelee acc line, do i lose all those xp points and have to do them over again?
2. If the phase shifts and I do not complete the melee access line, do i have to repeat the capture the commander quest when phase 3 rolls around again?
Thanks in advance,

No once you have unlocked a branch your free to fill it up with exp at your leisure, only the quests must be completed within the phase.
