Okay, I know a lot of you believe that nothing you dowill bring the old man faster than he is destined to come. However, I got the visit from himapproximately 20 hours after unlocking, and I have read of others who met him even quicker. I thought I would share what I did so that others of you "believers" can try it also and MAYBE it will work for you.

The other side of the coin: First, let me say that there is NO PROOF that anything I did caused him to come faster. Maybe he was destined to come after 20 hours no matter what I did. My point is that maybe you CAN affect his speed, so WHY NOT give it a try? At the worst, it gives you something to dowhile you wait.

Sequence of Events (all times are approximate, within a few minutes):

(NOTE: Fort Alliance, Thrace, and Fraggers Island are all PLAYER CITIES on Eclipse)

Things I did specifically to try and draw out the old man are in this color yellow.

Thursday 1:00AM

-- Trained my last box in the Village with Noldan

-- Biked back to the Outpost, healed my battle fatigue and injuries there on Dathomir

-- Shuttled from Dathomir Science Outpost back to Coronet Starport on Corellia

-- Biked to my house outside of Corellia and did general cleanup, restocked supplies, repaired armor and weapons, etc.

Thursday 2:00AM
-- Decided to start trying to make the old man show up

-- Left my house and rode into Coronet

-- Shuttled from Coronet Starport to Player City #1 (PC1), Corellia

-- Picked two closemissions off the terminals in PC1,hiked to them (on foot) and finished them off

-- Shuttled from PC1 to Player City #2 (PC2)

-- Picked two close missions off the terminals in PC2, hiked to them (on foot) and finished them off

-- Shuttled from PC2 back to PC1.

Thursday 3:00AM

-- Biked from PC1 to my house outside Coronet (approx. 4k meters) and logged out for the night

<<SERVER RESET OCCURS HERE>>

Thursday 7:10AM

-- Had to go to work, but logged in at my house

--Biked to Player City #3 (PC3), approx 1400m.

-- Shuttled from PC3 to PC1.

-- Biked from PC1 back to my house (approx 4000m)

-- Logged out.

Thursday 9:00PM

-- Logged in at my house, contacted a friend for buffs. He was on Dantooine in a PC near the Mining Outpost.

-- Biked from my house to Coronet.

-- Shuttled from Coronet to Dantooine Mining Outpost.

-- Biked to Player City on Dantooine.

-- Hung out in that PC for about 40 mins.

-- Biked back to the Mining Outpost

-- Shuttled from Dantooine Mining Outpost to Coronet, Corellia

-- Shuttled from Coronet to PC#1

-- Shuttled from PC#1 to PC#2

Thursday 10:00PM

**** I had been in PC#2 about 3 or 4 minutes near the shuttle when the old man showed up ****

To summarize what I did:

-- THREE planet jumps

-- SIX Shuttles into Player Cities

-- FOUR missions

I used FRAPS to capture the Old Mans visit and am trying to get it reduced in size to post here so you people can see it. Currently is is 193Mbytes.

i received my last badge needed and was glowing according to /check. i logged off for @20 mins, had summink to eat, logged on again, flew from theed to moenia, walked outside moenia about 1.2k to my house, examined one of my harvs, and as i was paying the maintenance on it, the old man spawned.

talked to him and got my crystal, moved on to next harvester. paid maintenance. moved to next one and sith shadows spawned.

i just about cried, all in the space of under an hour i had achieved glowy, the old man visit and i had killed the sith and looted the datapad. went on to kill the base, and got my village waypoint.

have no idea how this happened so quick but i am not gonna complain

You are correct, Ceramik... but I strongly suspect the same code is used in both instances.

I'm now a firm believer that nothing affects the time he will come, but possibly there are events (logging in, shuttling, and combat) that will trigger his visit once the time has passed. The only thing that will prove/disprove the event theory is if someone stood outside doing nothing from the time they gained glowy/trained last FS skill and see if he still comes.

yes, i really believe that nothing really changes how fast the old man comes, why would they bother coding events to trigger his comming to you, other than just having to be away from a city?

The Old Man visited me in about 24 hours, after i had just logged in at Mos Eisley, and when i was checking a harvester the Sith attacked so needless to say i was very pleased. However i have heard a rumor that the Devs were attempting to stem the tide of wannabe Jedis by making you wait a few days for the visit. However i have no proof of how much meritthis rumor has.

Shuttling seems to have the greatest effect on their appearance as I had just used the shuttle when both the old man and sith appeared. Still took two days for the old man and another for the sith though.
