Thread: Any Advice for a Soloist?
im there too, sometimes i can find a grp, but when i cant i just use my droid to pull one creature away from the herd, get a combat droid and write this macro
/tellpet at (or whatever is attack command)
/pause 2
/tellpet fol (or whatever is follow me command)
this works very well and from any distance, the xp will still be slow, biut if you cant find a grp then it works
Well, I really dont know about melee profs since the CU, but as far as a ranged character goes, Im CL 80mbh/mcarbs I am currently cuaght in all the new quest but from time to time i do faction based missions. I can solo them and I do them in groups, I usually go for the level 78-80 difficulty. These missions usually pay 9500 in a reg market and 11250 in an improved job market. They average about 90 fp and 4000 to 5000 xp depending per kill usually 3-5 guys spawn. These mission spawn in two ways with the enemy standing around seperatly or in a big group just sitting there. Kill the guys from the first scenario, the second scenario is a no win situation because they will aggro. I can usually kill all the people in a camp in about ten minute tops. I like doing these because of less wear and tear on my armor and the fp due to the need to use fp to equip faction armor about 10k to bio link, I find that creatures kill armor alot quicker.
I have donesome of the expansions quest and have not had a difficult time soloing. If your looking to big game hunt like krayts or something I would not try it solo, The biggest problem uwill face as a soloist is mob aggro's you could die if they are level 70 or over with more than 3 guys attacking you. The bummer is if you get attacked by a mob of level 70 guys they can kill ubut if you kill them u get nothing out of it if your level 80 because your level is to high to get xp. Im a one on onespecialist only big game stuff can kill me, Jedi, or aggroed mobs, As a ranged character I usually try to keep stuff away from me, most melee stuff loses half it hp before it reaches me and with duelist stance ranged characters do alot of damage to themselves trying to attack me.
When stuff gets above level 83 thats when i start having problems, an aggro of these guys will get you killed, Since upgrade I have died like 4 times, twice against rebels, once against a jedi, and once in kyshaach (sp?) there are some bad as things in the shadowlands, BTW nothing happened to me because in all instances it was considered PVP so I lost nothing, Oh yeah, make that five times, I was once killed by a Giant Dune KIMO (that hurt, and was thelast time I wore pre-cu armor)not paying attention and typing while I should have been watching the road, lol.
If you solo prepare for a let down. Grouping is the only way to go post-CU. Soloing is not just a bit slower then grouping its like 90% less efficient. Group = 1.2+ mill exp in 1 hour, no group = maybe 50-100k per hour? ..maybe.. if you dont get killed over and over and give up. Good luck
Thanks for all the feedback on this one guys. Couple of good tips here that I'll try and use. I try to group when I can...just some folks get irked when they are counting on your prof to help in a particular way.
Thanks again,

My advice would be to dump this game because you can't do anything solo.
I hate to say that you are wrong... but you are.
I've spent a good deal of time soloing since CU. I can pack down 1mil Scouting and 1.2mil carbine xp in 3-4 hours pretty easy. If I find some good spawns I can do it in 2-3 hours.
Here are my suggestions:
1. Use a ranged profession TKM is now what it used to be.
2. Try to single out creatures to fight, aim for the ones furthest form the group.
3. Snare or Root creatures early so you get in more shots and you can resnare/reroot earlier.
4. Kite. When it gets about 2/3 of the day to you start running away from it.
5. (goes with 4) be sure to have a safe place to run through when you start killing. You can even run in circles around the creatures you are killing if the circle is wide enough.
6. Take missions but also keep an eye out for creature -3 to +2 your CL on your way to the missions.
I found that CL 80 doesn't necessarily make you the best xp. As a CL 80 there are far fewer natural spawns that you'll make xp off of solo. If you hit CL 70-75 you can find tons of natualy spawning creatures on Dath to kill. Generaly when you get to your mission it'll be surrounded with other creatures you can kill. Kill some creatures around your lair first so you have that safety buffer I was talking about then kill the creatures and your lair. After this pick out any good looking creatures near you still and kill those.
Anyone who says you can't solo post-cu just hasn't figured out how to yet.
Groups are still the best way to go for xp, but when you can't group it is nice to know you can still make xp.
As for right now, it is phase 4. You can make a pretty decent amount of xp by going to the village and joining a group. Be sure to hit as many NPCs as possible. You just need to hit an NPC once to get full xp for it (3600-4000 at CL 80, more for CL 70-77). Stay with your group so you're hitting NPCs that your group will be killing, Hit each NPCs a couple times then once you see more people shooing it or another NPC close by move to it and hit it a few times. Generaly I make 300k Medicine and 350k Weapons xp each wave, if I did just weapons I'd probibly make 500k or so. Less xp than you'll get in a group hunting on Dant but more xp than you'll get hunting alone in the same amount of time and it's an easy to find group.
