Well I just got Padawan and Melee Accuracy, Speed, and Defense all seem to work. They just stack off my other General Melee skills from TKM and Pikeman, and my Light saber has a modified speed, even though I don't have any Lightsaber skills yet. I aslo noticed on the Actually LS tree, there's General Melee Speed and Accuracy mods to, in between the ones secpfics to sabers.

Do you get the bonuses to melee and ranged defense? Do you get the bonus to healing? Do you get the "luck" skill what ever that is?

I'm not a Jedi but this is what I've picked up:
Melee and Ranged Defence along with Melee Accuracy work.
Luck does work... but it doesn't do a ton currently (works the say way if you are a Jedi or not. Just gets you more credits from looting as far as anyone can tell)
Persuasion isn't very useful it prevents random scans for some part and it reduces the cost of training, except training skills is free for FS and Jedi.
Healing does nothing for you, it only works with medical and entertainer healing.
Crafting works for a small part. Some trees of crafting will help you in making a better Saber.
Vehicle Control does the same thing Jedi or not.
Surveying will allow you to survey without needing artisan trained.

yes, I was talking about the ones that worked with Jedi.
The Melee Related skills and Ranged Defense work with Jedi skills.
Outside that there's pretty much nothing special they do if you're a Jedi or not.
All of them do the same thing if you are a Jedi or not except some of them (crafting (for the most part), Heightened Sences, and Ranged attack skills) don't have a Jedi skill that does anything that can use them.
