Fixing the FS Grind!

Hello, This is my attempt to address and fix the insanity of the FS grind. There is Definitely a way to fix this madness without all of the bickering, cussing, and whining. Your feedback on this matter is needed. If your going toadd to this idea, make sure you state your case in a professional manner. The devs will not change ANYTHING if we just complain and call everyone idiots. Read carefully and take you time with this subject. With that said.... here we go!

I'll start off by saying one very important sentence that serves as the basis for everything your about to read.

Casual gamers deserve the right to attain jedi just as fast (or very nearly) as the hardcore gamers do.

Why is that, you ask? Because casual gamers pay the exact same amount of MONEY to play the game that they love.

Because puttingCONTENT and INTERACTION (In the SWG universe) should be before any sort of mundane unnecessary

grind. This would bring me back to SWG more and more, time and time again.

NO, I don't think anyone should just be handed a jedi. You definitely need to do some work (building the character, getting glowy, going through the quests and phases). None of those take an insurmountable amount of time (besides the phase changes... but theres a point to that)to accomplish. Everyone... and I mean EVERYONE needs a fair chance. Lets look at how we can do this

to benefit a number of points.

What To Change

  • Conversion Rates - Conversion Rates need to be 1:1 plain and simple ... yes thats right.... 1:1

  • Phase Cycle -Increased from 3 weeks to 4 weeks

That's it! I must be joking! NOPE. This is not brain surgery. Were just eliminating the migraine inducing, coffee guzzling,

22 cans of coke, and 16 twinkies latergrind that you would have to do day in and day out. (I had to add a little flair to that sentence lol) Here is the reasoning behind these 2 changes.

Details of the Change

A 1:1 conversion rate makes the grind painless. Again, you have to put a little effort into getting the fs skills, Nothing major! This would give people a chance to focus on more of SWG's content throughout the FS process. This, in turn, would lead to more guild functions ( etc. etc. ) due to the fact less people are grinding. On a side note this would definitely help the crafters out that like to hunt with the guild. They may have only one combat profession yet it's very easy to attain fs xp. ( you get the idea ) If more people are interacting with SWG and its features, then that would push the Devs to keep the pace with new content. It's all about having a great experience with SWG every moment your on.Even if it is for 1 hour every other day or 100 hours a week.

Why change the phase cycle to 4 weeks? Again, because you should not be handed jedi. This would slow the jedi

population down (I don't think as fast as the high conversion ratios) but again, it's not painful. Lets go back to the

money issue. Heres the situation; Lets say Player A takes 1 month to finish getting to lvl 80 and getting glowy. With

the new system it will be 6 more months (6 phases X 4 weeks = 24 weeks or 6 months) before Player A is jedi. Player

A has now spent $30 (initial cost of game) and (with the one free month) $90 more. That's $120 cold hard cash. A pittance for some, a pot of gold for others. In my book... $120 better get you a jedi. (Don't Even Start on the Ebay thing)

In Conclusion

The focus needs to be on the happiness of the player. Granted, your not gonna make every single person happy, but

there is no need for mindless grinding. Making the player feel (in the sense of no pressure to endlessly grind grind grind)wanted would give him/her a chance to interact with the game, discover new things, and possibly invite new real life friends to join the fray. By encouraging players with a "no pressure" attitude, your paving the way for everyone to shape SWG for the better

Alright i will explain

I grinded all my FS exp in one week..(double exp week).. take roughly 2.5 weeks without it
Now im just waiting for the phases to go by cause i was a fast grinder

Now if you increase it from 3 to 4 weeks thats an extra 3 weeks for me which makes it basicly = to requiring several unlocks

If you cant finish your FS grindng in 18 weeks.. you shouldnt even become a jedi.. the grind will make your eyes bleed

First off, having your character revert back to a lvl 1 is lame. Who wants to redo everything again because they died of LAG.

Second, your missing the point. By reducing the grind severely your allowing more people to interact in different ways with the game. Some people work 40 hours, go to college, have a family etc. They pay the same amount of money to play as anyone else.

I am so tired of the damn grinding too. maybe they should give as a veteran reward a 1:1 ratio for FS instead of the BS rewards they give now, don't get me wrong ADK is the cool, but it's worthless until you get that uberweapon, which you barely use becuase you are staring at bols allday..(and then they hit you with the CU and it junk it..). that was my thought all along, this way some one cannot just go out and buy the game and be a jedi in a weekend, plus soe still gets paychecks and everyone can enjoy the cool content, I have not seen content in about a year, sine I started the FS grind, I work 40 and have a life so my playing time is limited. I hate spending the little time i have hitting the damn Fkeys all night..

Make a vet reward worth being a vet...

jedi is all about grindage. if you can't take the village, jedi will kill you.

how it should work is similar to the pilot trees, quests that have to be compelted to progress, most higher ones requiring a group. this is much more fun than just mass xp grind. sadly, soe likes the grind. and as to things suddenly getting harder, yep, that's how they did it pre village too. jedi were coming too quick, so with out telling anyone, the number of mastered profs increased.

that's how it is.

jedi = grind
