Ok, so I am now fs, and went and did my first set of quests from whip, and I sooo dont understand how the whole faze/ quest thing works and how the skills work, I mean i understand that you have to trade xp for fs xp which is fine, but I was reading some about free skills and the like and now im lost again lol
If anyone has any tips or advice please let me know, I have read though the guide and stuff but i still feel lost. If anyone can help me please inform me on how things work because I feel so lost about everything.
Thanks

Ok the simplified answer is this:
You can do one quest per phase. Completion of the quest unlocks a FS branch (the guide will tell you which branches you can unlock depending on what phase it currently is). Once you unlock the branch then you can train those skills as you turn in xp for FS xp.
There are 4 phases approximately 3 weeks apart in a continual loop. I.e. phase 1, 2, 3, 4, then back to 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on.
Once you have completed six quests of your choosing and trained all of the skills within them, you will be visited by the old man again and start you padawan trials.

1- Unless you unlocked branches before phase 9, you will not have any free unocks.
2- Without free unlocks you will have to complete a minimum 6 quests from 16 to choose from.
3- There are 4 main groups. Each group has 4 branches so 4 x 4 = 16 total branches and 16 quests.
4- You must do a minimum of 6 quests to unlock 6 branches. You can chose which branches yourself.
5- Each of the 4 main groups has a movice box wich must be filled with 50K of FS XP. You can fill a novice box anytime as long as you have 50k FS xp. The novice boxes have no quests associated with them. You will not be able to train the first box in a branch without filling the novice box first.
6- Eache Phase has 4 quests to choose from(1 quest for each of the 4 main groups). so 4 quests per phase times 4 phases = 16 total quests.
7- each phase lasts 3 weeks.
8- IMPORTANT: When converting your normal xp into FS XP you must remember there are 4 types of FS XP...so when you go to convert you normal xp you must choose which of the 4 types (combat prowess, enhanced reflexes, Ehanced Senses and Crafting) you are converting into. The type you choose will depend on which of the 4 main groups the branches you have unlocked are in. The majority of people convert into Combat or Enhanced Reflexes type if you are a combat profession(This allows you to fill boxes in either of the 4 combat prowess branches or the 4 enhanced reflexes branches). Of the 4 types of FS XP, you must convert from an appropriate type of normal XP. In other words you cannot convert say pistol weapon xp into Enhaced Sense XP.(Generaly comabat type xp converts into Combat Prowess or Enhanced Relfexes FS xp and all other types of normal xp(med, crafting, scouting xp) will convert into either Enhaced Senses or Crafting FS XP
I'm trying to keep it simple so i'm ending now

Thanks guys that actually helped a good bit
now a question
do you have to do a quest for every skill? or do you only have to do the quest to open the branch?
