I killed him yet it said i was ready to start but nothing happened?

Will i be visited by the old man once again and it says nothing on my crystal

It should have given you a waypoint to the closest shrine, to start your trials. If it didn't, I would check the stickies at the top for waypoints to shrines, and go there, /kneel, select meditate, and start your trials. You shouldnt have to see the old man again.
