You're almost right. Like you said, after receiving the crystal from the Old Man, you have to wait around for the Sith to jump you and try to take your crystal. When you defeat them though, you will be able to loot a datapad from one of them. You then must go to the waypoint on the datapad, which will be a Sith camp with three more Sith Thugs. After all of that, you loot another datapad from one of the three Sith in the camp. That datapad gives you the waypoint to the Village, and then you can go. (You also recieve your Force Sensitive force progression box at this point.)

now two sith outlaws or something will attack you... kill them and loot a datadisk to a camp, go to that camp kill everyone there and you get a wp to the village. its in the stickys i believe.
