4 slots is a problem for most people. If you have a 4th gen saber with 4 -1 FC crystals, you'll be sucking hard. There is force drain from specials, and more if you have a saber with almost no force cost reduction from pearls. I wouldn't use a 4th gen saber without at LEAST -20 FC or better from crystals and pearls.
and yet if you arent using a 4th gen chances are you just wont be doing enough damage to kill anything or anyone.
The damage comes from what you put inside your saber. You need to craft a 4th Generation even if you don't have 4 good tunes. You will have them in the future.
My advice is to craft the saber in a way you have an efficient saber, so low force cost (48 the best) and low SAC (95 the best) is the way to go. If you have extra experimentation points, put them into speed. Again the damage comes from pearls and atm the best pearls are not dropping ... as intended ...

I just reached MLS yesterday (hooray). Anyway, I went to craft my first Gen4 saber. It wasn't bad. I got max dam 244 I believe, 2.99 speed, and 49 FC. I know there is room for improvement and thus this thread is born.
I have read the stickies and the forums for a long time. I noticed that Msnil made a "LS crafting for dummies post" and it is good. But I was wondering if there is some one out there who could make an "advanced saber crafting" thread (or maybe turn this into one).
I already have all the resources, tools, and food that I need (which is covered in the sticky). But some things are mentioned and not explained. What does the research city do for you (hard numbers not "increases crafting success")?increases the chanceyou will have amazing success/decreases the chances of failure (at mls withfoods you should never get below great success) If I have 12pts of experimentation, do I have to drink 12 bespin ports (this is the way the sticky reads, don't know why you would have to do this, thedrink lasts for 4 minutes).(yes it clears after you run an experiment [it's only good for the very next experimentation poin] so it takes a while to craft using this mehod)
Where should exp points go? The sticky says put none in efficiency but I still see people always going for that 9FC saber.
I think one of the best things would be for people to post some of their crafted light saber stats. What speed, dam, FC, SAC did you get (before adding crystals/pearls). What are the caps? Where did you put your exp points?
If there is one of these out there already post a link and lets get it stickied. If not please reply with any information you have on this topic. If I get enough information I will try and compile it into an advanced guide, but I do not have the personal expertise to do this on my own yet.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks Star. I was just about to post asking why you only quoted me, then I noticed your additions that are colored just a bit differently.
Ok, so exp food clears when you use it.
Research Center helps but at MLS + food shouldn't matter.
