I definitely like the idea of implementing them as a chooseable quest reward. I mean what if for example you didn't want the Sunrider's Destiny, but would prefer a red one, say like Maul's Veangance. I think that upon completion of a suitably difficult quest (after having become a Jedi) you should be given a choice of one crystal.
