A) there should NOT be a quicker way. The grind is just that, a grind. It should NOT be easy, it should NOT be quick. You should be required to devote a lot of time b/c that's the way it is....

B) Double XP is not a good thing....

You're just saying that becase your already done with it. This grinding requires hours of devoting yourself to senseless slageter (mispelled, brownie point to who spells it right), which is not jedi-like.

The "Grind" is designed to make it a challenge for anyone who wants to put forth the effort to go to Jedi. It was not designed to be a task completeable by the common Joe. Casual gamers will take longer than Power gamers *FACT* There is no timeframe on when you must unlock. The old man never said "You must unlock within 3 months or else."

The village systemis designed to "weed out" those who do not want to grind, because that is what you will be doing now and after. YOU make the choice to go down the path to Jedi. If you dont like the village procedures and grind set forth, make the decision and don't do it. But if you want to be a Jedi, then suck it up and get back in game.

*note I am a casual gamer and I slowly got myself through the village pre CUnot in 15 - 18 weeks like most, but 25 weeks. But I still got there. 1 Cap a play session, sometimes more on the weekends.

The only thing I dislike is the long ride to the village all the time, seems like it takes forever.

It would be interesting if going to the dark side as a jedi gave you a few days of double xp. The reasoning being that the lure of the dark side is supposed to be quicker and easier power. But you can't implement that by just making dark jedi flat out more powerful, because it wouldn't be any fun to be permanently weaker as a light jedi. The temporarily faster xp would be a tempting lure of instant gratification without any long term imbalancing of power.

I am glad double xp is gone forever. They still need to slow down all levelling in game. Maybe increase the hit points of all animals so it takes longer to kill them.

Ok seriously how does grinding weed out the jedi. I have never seen or read anythign that says "jedi are people who are able to go out and massacre thousands of animals". The grind is dumb. It pretty much says: Well you have to be a loser and have no life and play 8 hours a day to get this done in a reasonable time OR you can be a casual player and wait 1.5 years of casual grinding to unlock. Grinding does in now way teach somebody how to be a jedi. It doesnt teach any important values. It is just here to slow people down. What a waste of my life. You think that you are special because your a jedi? Well most of you arent. You dont deserve it. You go stand out in Theed and pvp and kill all the weak non-jedi people. What cowards. You act nothing like jedi, but you call yourselves one. Seriously, most jedi dont deserve to be jedi, they just have enough time to do this grind.

Old Man may not, but SOE seem to, they change things all the time. Wish I managed to get Jedi sooner, and experienced it in the older systems.

Also SOE announcing the new village system from the old hologrind, made me stuff up by droid business. Was quite content crafting droids, selling them, and casually grinding a Jedi with a 2nd account, not worrying how long it took, then they announced that change, and went mad to try and get Jedi, so that all the grinding I did would not be a waste of time, as I thought the village was going to be a whole new system, and have to start from scratch, which I was wrong, as what I did grinded, helped me unlock 4 branches, so only had to 2 more, but I totally neglected my droid business, and concentrated on grinding for Jedi. A total shame

I wish the old hologrind way just remained, and the village system was never conceived, maybe some people would have had the same vision I had, now Jedi is "in your face" and got to get it, even if it may end up being crap!

You're out of time, SOE The whole 2.5 months shouldn't have been. The game was fine up until Nov 15th. If the CU was worked on, instead of devoting time to the NGE (including the many months prior to November), the game could possibly be totally bug free by now.

My account cancels on 2nd Feb, which was a waste as only played game for 1 day to get the life day gifts, will be resubbing when creature handler, Bio-engineer, scout, and ranger return, oh and the FS village.

As for the double XP, I feel what we had was needed to recover from the "getting used to the" CU. As if the CU never came, I reckon my progression in game would have been further. Thats why it was introduced after the CU, to get people used to the CU, as it was such a comedown afterwards, and trying to grind to begin with in the first few days was a nightmare, barely made any dent in my progression at all, and gave up on it at times too, although now have gotten used to the CU and probably doing about the same as before CU (but only if in a group)

The other 2 double XPs happened because
1) There was a problem, and the servers were out of action longer than they planned. These instances for double XP are worthwhile, as it helps you progress to the same level in the same real life timeframe, if these server probelms didn't happen.

2) It was the 2 year anniversary present, which I have to admit, wasn't exactly wise, although I didn't grumble, as was wishing I got to grips with the CU when double XP was about, and finally got my wish! Still, would have been better to have had something, more memorable. Doubt people will remember getting double XP for the 2nd Anniversary gift. Wonder if for the 3rd year anniversary gift we'll get triple XP, and the 4th year gift quadruple!
