You can take all quests, without ever learning a single FS skill, the are only two requirements in Aurellia; One quest per phase, and a minimum of 6 completed FS branches in order to progress. So in short, don't worry, wait til the appropriate phase comes to get the skill you need/want.

I'll add my $.02 cents. First very accurate and very helpful guide.
The padawan trial info is very helpful, I only screwed up one of the trials because I didn't read the post first (chef). Just started my craft lightsaber trial when they took the server down (trial #9 or #10) for me. At that point I received the "Jedi Initiate" skill title.
One other thing regarding the grind, since you earn weapons and combat xp at the same time, the conversion rate is 15-1 when you factor both in. 2-hand was my preferred skill to grind with, I could cap 900k twice on a set of buffs hunting rancors on dath.
Thanks for the guide.

A very helpful guide!
Like most others i have questions......
First some info on my situation. I am Master BH and Master Pistoleer. I have zero melee skills. Like a lot of people, I jumped right in when I got to the village and did 20 patrol missions. I have no free unlocks.
1. Are the ranged speed and accuracy worth anything to a Jedi? I can see how it would help me ATM, but if the melee speed and accuracy would help when I am actually Jedi, wouldnt that be the wise choice?
2. If say the melee part of Combat Prowess is better than ranged, even tho I have no melee skills, should I just grind the XP and bank up as many 900k's that I can? (pistols, Heavy, carbs) The cool part is, I can get 900k pistol xp in about 3 hours, not a problem.
3. Would I be better off dropping MBH and getting a master in a melee skill?
Thanks......

1. I doubt they are worth much to a Jedi. Melee skills are far more likely to be of use.
2.Yes, grind tons of xp, bank 900k, swap weapons and bank another 900k, unless one type is considerably faster than another, in which case, use the faster weapon type, and train more frequesntly. 900k in three hours aint bad, my personal best is 900k in 60mins with Master Swordsman and a nice scythe, killing rancors on Dathomir.
3. You would be better playing the game in a fashion that is most fun for you. Dont ruin your game for this one aspect of it, you'll get there no matter what, if you presevere, but if you ruin your game, will you care even if you do get to Jedi faster?

Important! If you do not have any unlocks, you will need 50k of converted xp for the Novice skill, WHICH YOU MUST DO BEFORE YOU START THE QUESTS!
Excellent guide, could you answer this tho.
Why do you need 50k converted xp before you start the quests, will you get stuck until you have it or something?
I've had people in the village saying they've quested first and then went to get the novice xp..

if you want to go 100% melee, then yes. master brawler is the most usefull profession you can pick up. lunge 2 for all melee's (knockdown instead of just posture change) intimidate 2 (unsurpassed in usefullness for mobs like night sisters, krayts, kimo's, jedi's etc..) beserk 2 (never use it, but it last a long long time) and extra speed and things to all the melee professions. personally im master swords/master fencer/master brawler/4-0-0-2 tka and bouncing between 1-0-0-0 scout and 1-0-0-0 medic depending on what i need to do.
