Thread: Major Flaw in Jedi Design

Just to use Yass as an example. (not a flame in any way)

He wanted to become a Jedi, and I don't blame him as many people do and thats fine. The problem is as more and more people become Jedi it takes another crafter away from the game. I DO NOT blame the crafters. I blame the game design as many may have said well I like my Armorsmith or whatever just fine but I will become force sensitive to make him better and then unlock a new toon and go Jedi with that. But we done't have that option. We HAVE to go Jedi with our main toon. But since the economy is player based its destroying it and like Yass said he may go back to armorsmith at a later date. Thats fine thats his choice but in the meantime the game suffers because of the dev's and the way they have decided to unlock a 2nd toon.

Myself I don't want a Jedi but I would like to have a 2nd toon but I can't unlock my 2nd toon because I have to be a Jedi.

I honestly believe the dev's must be brain dead if they think not giving players a choice makes the game better in any way.

I think the Devs have said that using the LD method to buff is an exploit (possibly, I can't remember now actually, lol!)..

Also, due to the way SWG was designed around the player run economy, it's not intended for anyone to be able to do anything themselves on a single account to ensure a player to player reliance. Combat profs need buffs, buffers need resources, crafters needcertain components, schematics, resources, etc.. oh, and everyone needs money.

It's not in SOE's interest to allow everyone to do everything for themselves, so we're back to this second character slot argument once again (see thread "SOE Why are you *FORCING us to become JEDI* and grind our lives away?????" for more on that one and why it's not a good idea).

Yeah, a lot of crafters are leaving the game, but it's also the holiday period, more combat profsare grinding Jedi (hence the lack of armor, weapons, brandy).. it's NOT the crafters.. it's the combat profs burning everything up because of the grind.

All these theories about what;s ruining the economy and why people are leaving, there's no conspiracy, it's all very very simple:

Economy:

Is because of the group mission reward payout change (We knew this would happen, and was intended to happen)

Player Numbers:

Holiday Season and there are two more MMO's out (SOE knew this would happen, one of them is also by SOE)

That's it, no other reason, although many might disagree with me.

The fact many disagree may very well mean you are wrong...

Run multible instances of SWG, then you can log BOTH toons for a short while but enough to buff you main and get the buff timers:-)

You're disagreement might stand up more if you actually had a counter to it instead of being just a simple and rather pointless attempt at flaming me!

I can see you're not adding much so if you don't have an opinion, there's no real need to post

It's the crafters fault, they are rich and lazy and can't be arsed to make cheap products, instead they want to rip us of to provide their main accounts with a lot of money.

Now a lot of people are getting a second toon because of the new system and they start making all the crafting stuff themselves cause they can make it for 10% of the price they used to buy it for.

I'd rather buy a second copy to get an alt and have him craft all I need then have to do solo missions 24/7 to be able to pay for weapons, armor, food, buffs and crystals.

While I have to agree with this, I think that it is also fair to say that not everyone is doing it. However, a large majority of people are jacking up the price so to speak to contribute to their grinding needs rather than give a fair price for the majority of people to compete with.

I also think that there are other contributing factors as well, so therefore it’s a combination of events rather than just one in peculiar. Like the decrease in the number of players for the gamein addition to the number of players that are heading towards thepilot and shipwright professions.

you don't have to be a rocket scientist to be able to fire up two clients on the same computer

EDIT: "more combat profs are grinding Jedi (hence the lack of armor, weapons, brandy).. it's NOT the crafters.. it's the combat profs burning everything up because of the grind."
So according to EvilHQ the lack of stocked vendors is because all the FS combat grinders that are consuming it all...

Can you tell me why they are consuming my molecular clamps? Clothes? Furniture? (yeah I'd like to smack a sister across the face with a loveseat myself..) There are more to this game than uber weapons, comp armor, brandy and pwning

It's not the holidays as I noticed this on early November as I took a 4 month break from the game and then went to Coronet to get a buff as always and not 1 doctor. Whereas before there were tons of Doctors aroundand lots of full vendors. I also see vendors I know putting that on hold while they grind Jedi.

I think SWG is going through tough times right now. With the release of the "other" MMORPG's SWG took a hit, add in the holidays, then throw in the grind for Jedi and you get a pretty sad state in game, lastly chuck in the fact that the expansion that a number of people were waiting to invigorate the game, came a little to late and fell a little short.

To few people are taking the casual approach to getting Jedi, intead they are throwing all there time into the FS grind until they get their glowie stick. The end result is fewer people doing there chosen professions, and a larger migration out of game (lots of people burn out during the grind). I hope things will come full circle soon and people will start to realized that the FS grind is better enjoyed (If you can call it enjoying it) by taking breaks and doind what you love from time to time, i.e. Crafting, entertaining, or RPing.

Hopfully when they get their Jedi and will feel the need to support there Jedi's grind with cash and take time to go back to crafting with there alt's, *Crosses Fingers*.

I also think that as people see oppurtunity and see that a server is missing "good" *blank* and jump at it, have to remember there are lots of people with no asperations to get Jedi and just waiting to find a niche in the game. I thik this is starting now as we speak as a number of people in game are trying crafting professions that they see the lack in.

There are a number of flaws in the Jedi system, I don't disagree with that, the grind is a huge flaw. Nothing should feel like a grind in a game, specially one of the greatest professions you can hope to achive, should be a treat to play, not a grind. I can only hope that the dev's take the time to sit down for a few months after the CU and just bang out content, quests, story lines, etc. To change the grind into fun and interesting game play. I know they are capibal of it as some of the game design of SWG is ground breaking for a MMORPG, if they can just make sure they don't lose the spark they created.... I can only hope.

I am rambling now so off to bed I head, if this made no sense ignore me

Point taken... and that has got to be one of the best lines I've heard in months

Nice one...

God knows what's causing it then, like a lot of people are saying, it just seems to be an assortment of reasons building up to cause one potential major problem.

Oh, and regarding "pwning"... I don't PvP at all, so would consider myself "pwnless"

A lot of ppl have left for Matrix Online which is better for right now, this game I've left but still have accounts because SOE doesnt give a damm about what ppl say, and always lies when they say their going to fix something that the end-result becomes sheer

Blasphemy on the devs part.

1 reason why some of us that have worked for LA before said that the game needs to be taken over by LA, as SOE is so Corrupted.

Some of us knew we had to go to LA to try to get things more taken care of as ppl have mostly bought accounts here anyway, or in the Jedi League.
