Thread: How is it fair to new players that the Jedi grind now takes twice as long?
As a masterBH you should just use BH xp instead. It converts at 1:1 for reflexes which is where most of the good stuff is anyway. I wasn't in favor of this change, but you have other options out there. If thats too tough for you then change to a crafter and pick up a crafting line to unlock. Conversion rates there are pretty decent.

Because, let's not fool around. At 30:1, they might as well take out converting combat xp altogether. I'm just glad I'm half way through my grind, because it just got a whole lot worse for you new players.
let's crunch some numbers.
As a master BH/master pistoleer, I usually goto the village when I cap all my weaponxp. This means that I'll have 1.2 million pistol xp, 900k Carbine and 900k Rifle xp. That's 3 million total combat xp, which converts to 100k FS xp. Now I usually have right around 300k combat xp to go along with that, which would be another 100k of FS xp. But now, since my usual 300k combat xp will converted into 10,000 FS xp instead of 100,000, I'll be getting a measly 110k total FS xp, instead of 200k. which is basically half of my previous xp, essentially doubling the time it will take to grind to initiate.
And I could beat myself in the head, because I had 900k combat xp yesterday, and not knowing about the change, I decided to wait until today to dump in in the village. Either they don't want anymore Jedi around, or they just want to keep people playing longer to get more subscription $$$.
Yeah, but the thing is it takes me about 1/2 hour to do one BH mission (my PC takes forever to load up new planets when I travel) and I think I only get about 600 BH xp per mission (I'm not sure cause I haven't looked at how much BH xp I get in forever, since I havent had a need for BH xp in a loooong time). It's just not worth all the time it takes in my opinion. But, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm glad they're nerfing all the conversion ratios...Too many newbie Jedi running around not know what they're doing. They only thing i'm pissed about is that they don't bother to tell us this stuff is going to happen:

great more newb whiney jedi is just exactly what we need, and when you get paddy please afk grind too KK?
I stole the I WIN button
Yup thats exactly what u need cause with out the newbs coming into the game guess what .... there wont be a game. This game is under 300k subscribers any dips or losses is a bad thing
Well i'm a BH/Rifleman template as already been stated my FS exp broke down as so
Rifles : 1.2mil Weapons exp = 40k FS exp
Carbine: 900K Weapons exp = 30K FS Exp
Pistols: 900k Weapons exp = 30K FS Exp
I would have around 300K combat exp by the time I maxed those
Combat: 300K exp= 100K FS Exp
This gave me a Total of 200K FS per trip to the village instead i now get
Combat: 300K Exp = 10K FS EXP
Total FS exp now = 110K
This basically now doubles the amount of time to grind FS exp for this template
I had 15 trips left to go before I got all 6 branches done. Now I have 30 Trips left instead.
What they should have done instead of changing combat exp like this to hurt the casual gamer was make grenade exp heavy weapons exp. This would have hurt the "nade Grinders"
But no they took the lazy easy way because irt would have taken too much more time to change nades from comabt to heavy weapons exp. Instead all they did was to take 1 variable that had Marco-scopic effects instead of change the one that had Micro-scopic effects.
They should do 1 of3 things.
1. Either Change grenades to Heavy Weapons Exp. And Change Combat Exp back to it's orignal ratio of 3:1
2. Give a 2 week Double exp week. So that those of us who were close to finish can finish.
3. Come up with a quest based system that has content instead of grinmding contrary to your thinking devs grinding Does not equal content. Make the quest based system long and gated kinda like the village is now. But it would need many many more steps and involvement.
im my opinion it should take about 3 months to obtain Force Sensitive then another 6 months to get Jedi.
I love the first part of the FS quest with old man. i would make the following changes though. Have the old man send you on severalquests to enhance your glowy state these could be set where you could only do one per 3 weeks and have 4 quests you have to do.This would make it soit would take 3 months just to get FS.This could easliy been done by limiting progess through the quest by saying something like this " You need to meditate on the things you have learned about the force before your path can continue..."
After you finish with the old man Have a seris of quest for each one of the FS boxes,Have each of these quest gated bya 4 week period. This would put the power gamers and causal gamers on the same level becuase it would take each the exact same amount of time to obtain Jedi.
Of thecourse the gates could be adjusted to whatever the devs think would be better. This is a much much much better way to go. This would acomplish waht players want to see.
1. Get rid of theFS Grind.
2. Add much needed content to the game.
I would rather do 9 months of content based advancement than 3 months of grinding any day and I think if the devs would poll players most if not almost all would agree.
Just how I feel. I've been playing this game since the day it was released and I must say this has to be one of the worst if not the worst change that has been made to the game. Well maybe second worst. The worst was the stealth change on the number of hidden profs it took to get jedi. But since players didn't really know until after the village was added dunno if that counts.
Oh BTW Devs Steatlh nerfs will lose you customers just an FYI. I'm sure you wanna keep what subsrcibers you have left because the list keeps get shorter with fewer players starting since new games are coming out. mmmmm like Vanguard made by the real gods of the MMORPG World Jeff Butler and Brad McQuaid

Pre-CU, I could cap swords xp in 22 minutes.

Don't feel so bad. Your grind is still shorter then Pre-CU. I would have traded the speed of xp gain for the 30:1 combat xp conversion when I was going for FS

It's not twice as long, it will take you as long now as it took us Pre-CU. The xp came alot slower back in those days.

What an Arrogant thing to say, But then again, how can i be a noob when i have played for nearly a year? IT is not fair that only the people that play 24/7 or close to it get rewarded. SoE need to promote people actually having a real life along side the game, rather than making people spend all of their time in it
Everybody has the same chance to unlock, if you follow the process you will eventually unlock.
