Yes, taking my time. I may start the Pady trials at the end of the year with my current rate of progression. I'd rather than than grind so much I hate the game. I've a job and two children too so the moment something stops being fun I stop doing it. Not enough hours in the day.

What scared me is when I saw a Jedi Knight in Theed cantina and did an /examine.
He had a couple of POI badges, a couple of content badges and one mastered profession. That was it.
This guy must have made the character purely to grind out jedi, and did the bare minimum to get to the village.
I mean, I would have thought that he would have at least picked up a couple errant POI badges just from running around a bit. I really hope this is an alt character and he has actually seen a bit more of what the game has to offer with his main, but this guy must have just ground his nuts off in order to get the glow stick.
I guess I just really don't understand the grinder mentality. I try a bit of grinding myself from time-to-time, but after 1 crate of nades I am bored witless so I go back to speaking to NPC's looking for little quests or Nightsister hunting (not specifically for loot - I am on a revenge trip after haveing them destroy so many of my swoops), or going on a guild Krayt/GDK/DWB raid etc etc. I have started heading towards Jedi (got 3 free unlocks and am now 444111), but sometimes I wish I hadn't, I have no interest in speed levelling a jedi, I just want to finish the jedi stuff, unlock the second character slot and build that up as a stormtrooper character (prolly carbs + squad leader) then just use my jedi as something to do when I want a change of pace.
Guess it takes all sorts, and if people get off on grinding then more power to them, but I have a nagging feeling that it is this type of guy that
after a few months start posting about how there is no content in the game.

Yeah, I just want to tackle phase 3/4 with a good template,, after i am done with village quests, I will start to grind, with fists, swords, nades, guns, what ever, But the quests are my main priority at this time, I am already on the path to jedi, So it's just ol' father time that stands in my way now.

Well done all for admitting that you aren't 'uber' geeks simply wanting to throw a glowstick about!
I too am taking my time and trying to find more and more content to fill the xp gaps, any goon can buff 'n grind a template out but a true jedi is defined by his actions, not the size of his saber. So far in my many, many months of play i have only unlocked 2branches and filled none of the boxes yet! Sure, I'll get there one day, but what am I gonna do then? The same as the jedi i see now? Running round major cities in robes or duelling on dantooine?Then whining because they got slain by a cunning BH for being on the terminals?No. I will continue to do what i do now....use my newfound powers for good, to help and assist, not to prove I am the 'uberest' PvP'er on the server. As i see it right now, the dark jedi path of all the PvP is a good representation of the dark path, quicker and easier....but a true light jedi must work hard to acheive his/her goals. It's just a shame that SoE didnt think to implement this method ingame instead of forcing us to choose all combat skills in order to survive the FRS.
By the way, i too am a working man with a wife and a 2 year old and as such value what time i DO get on SWG.There's plenty out there to do, you just have to find it and a grind spot just ain't the placeto look, and it is nice to know we are not alone /

Well, I'm grinding out/bankingthe last of my FS skills so I can take advantage of the "old systems" quirks before the "new system" fixes them. I plan on becoming a Dark Jedi, so yes, i'm looking for the "quicker, easier route" and imo my server either lacks them or they're in hiding.
I've been playing for about a year, and honestly I'vefelt that i've experienced almost everything this game has to offer.I've mastered/dabbled in a variety of diff profs, from pvp'er/combatant, to master doc,entertainer, and crafter. I've seen every POI in the char sheet, experienced every 'dungeon' to some degree, gone on guild hunts for rare creatures, taken harv contracts as a ranger, etc. I feel that I've done so much that Jedi is my next logical step in a new, different direction for my character.

I am taking my time, not that is any new news, I have been a MDE for over a year, but even my combat alt.I am also figuring I will try my hand at the new AI, without worring about losing 50k xp each time I die.

I do it slow. Still watching my xp become nothing and cry. Anyway right now I don't know if I will make it all, before I get angry and bored and later quit.
If only SOE could give me a training lightsaber lol, then I would be so happy. Just a toy to play with hehe. I don't whant to pay years and work day and night for somthing that might be boring...and you must work hard, to become one. Before I get too old for this online gaming lol.
I still dream about a Jedi system where you start with a lightsaber (training) and then work your way up with a master, not some strange dude in a starnge stoneage village.

I, on the other hand, am not taking my time. I am sure I would regret waiting until after the CU to grind.
Each night, I log in and play for at least a buff session and try to gain at least 250k FS XP. I have 2.5/6 filled and I should be close to 3/6 after tonight. This weekend, I am going to power-grind 6-8 buff sessions and try to get to 5/6.
I am ready!

Are you using the nade method to get 250K FS XP. As a Pistoleer it is taking me forever to get 175K FS XP for my first box.
To answer the original posters questions, I too have a two year old and a 5 month old so I get to play only after they are in bed. This is usually from 7-10 pm at night. I try to gain as much Pistol XP as possible but I always get side tracked. There is too much too see in this game as I like to wander around alone.

Yes, I am now using the nade method. I decided one day that running around killing everything with my PH, capping 900k, driving out to covert to 30k, and then capping 900k, and driving back out to convert to 30k....was getting boring beyond boring.
So, in less than 2 buff sessions, I dropped some skills and ground out Master Marksman and Commando 4/0/0/0, begged a WS friend (who I owe HUGE...she is great) to make me some Imp Det runs, and in a couple of days I was on the way.
Even when I am really lazy, I will at least cap combat and half of Swords to get over 100k FS XP every single time I play. To each their own, but I am telling you, this way is much better.
......also, the 7m blast radius of the thermal makes sense as an advantage, since the baz nitches will straggle out sometimes....I just realized that I see that more with Imp Dets.
