I heard people having this problem - I did it last night with no issues at all. I mean, they walk damn slow, but otherwise, the quest went smooth.
All my camps were anywhere from 1000m to 1400m away (my last one was actually 856m away, was nice). They all followed me with no problems. I also heard people having problems with the villagers not going up steep hills, however, mine had no problem. One of my camps was in a gully with the hill going almost straight up and he went just fine for me.
Only thing you can do is delete the WP and go to Whip and keep trying until you are done. I know it sucks, but its the only option. Atleast you can do that, some quests you can't. Good luck.

Could be, I don't remember if I went around trees or anything. I would just keep going at it. I know it sucks, but as I mentioned, this quest has the advantage of deleting with WP and getting a new one from WP, without getting bugged up.

I'm pretty sure it's line of sight that causes the villager to stop. Here's what I did:
Keep talking to Whip and deleting the waypoint he gives you till you get one that's less than 1000m. Sometimes I took a 1200m waypoint but never a 1500m. The short distance is EXTREMELY helpfull because you don't have to walk as far and it makes it 10x easier to get back without being attacked.
Pull the Sith. When you first find them they are all bunched together. Keep away till they break up, they will, then pull them one at a time (i like poison toss but pets work well too).
I've heard people say to walk with a weapon, but i thought that was too slow and it's not like I had anything better to do. So I just ran till I was 25m ahead, then wait till they catch up to 10m, repeat. Don't outrun them though. I don't know what the "danger zone" is but I always stayed within 30m and never had a problem.
AVOID STEEP SLOPES!. I think, if the villager loses sight of you that's when they stop, and that's what happens on the verge of a steep slope. I had mine stop several times but was always able to get them moving again my walking sideways down the slopes, or along the edge till it became more maneagable.
Use the FOLLOW ME command. I haven't heard anyone mention this yet, but there is a follow me command on their radial menu. Use it when they stop, and if you get the "too far away" message, then you know it's the line of sight issue again. Work through it.
Good luck.

As long as you are CL80, yes. I did it fine as CL80. You might be able to do it around CL78 solo, not sure. Depends on how good your tactics are. There is 4 sith at the camps that are CL76-77.

I didn't have any problems. As long as you're pretty confident you can pull them individually and can take down a Sith Thug by yourself, you shouldn't have a problem.
Doesn't look like there's any penalty for having help in killing the sith though. It's all about getting to the villager first and having them follow you home. The sith are just the first obstacle.
On a funny side note, I used MaskScent, and actually had the native creatures HELP me kill the sith on two occasions. So if you're trying to pull them individually, run towards some mobs without shooting. Once/if the mobs engage the sith, you'll have a much easier fight.
