Funny, I know some ppl who were getting 2x on converted exp... so obviously, the 'completely confident it worked as intended' statement is a bit off... I doubt it was inernnded to work that way for some, and not others...

Sorry to here about you having to go through this... consistency would be a good trait for SOE to work on I think...

i got it totally messed my math up when i calculated that i needed to cap at 1.2mill somewhere round 4 times at the 30 : 1 ratio to fill my speed tree and when i checked numbers after converting i was over my needed xp for speed and accuracy by 70k

so i guess i was one of the lucky ones

It is simple to understand, it was a bug in the system that probably got fixed in the middle of the double XP week.

Since it was a bug you are owed no XP.

It is very likely that the Devs never informed CSR of this bug, as they never posted it as being fixed. The Devs and CSR are very seperate departments.

Hahahaha you learn early on in this game that CSR can't do anything but get you unstuck from terrain or tell you what command to use to fix a minute problem that dosen't effect your xp or items. Seriously I wish that they could do more, but they can't or won't. My conclution is that CSR's are either really stupid and pridefull or SOE (or whoever gives them a paycheck) has gave them the power to do jack crap.

These are just some things you should expect from CSR's
-They will never admit to be wrong or admit to an error in the game unless such an error has been published to the public, in that case they will tell you that you are SOL.

-CSR can't do jack about all the times you've been screwed over by bugs and glitches in the game, so in that case you are SOL.

-CSR all talk like your own brown nosing suck up in thier responces to your CS ticket...this is often how they try to politley tell you that you are SOL.

-CSR's favorite words and phrases include the following: sorry, try again, can't, no, better luck next time, keep on doing the mission until it is fixed, there is nothing I can do...these can all be summed up to mean you are SOL.

*And remember, if you ever think you are SOL, you can count on the fact that a CSR will be able to tell you that you are indeed SOL.

Double XP means double xp - no bugs - there is no real logical answer for the fact double means double - if you try to make it logical, there are in game psychiatriest.

No offense Havoc, but you seem unable to grasp this:

When you kill a Sith, hes worth about 400 combat XP... during double XP week you gained 800 combatXP

At 1/3 ratio you gain 133 FS XP (400 combat XP) before double.... but you get 266 after double (800 combat XP)

If the 266 was doubled again, to 532... you would in fact be gainingFOUR times XP and not DOUBLE. Seeing as it was DOUBLED when you got the XP, and DOUBLED when it was converted.

Now I suspect that it was infact doubled when it was converted to FS XP for a time, but I would also guess this was a bug, and so was fixed. Probably unreported because it was a bit embrassing. So Havoc you are owed nothing, and everyone who took advantage of it is just lucky.

Sorry hun, thats how it appears to me.

Guess you were just unlucky.

Under the old system, lets pretend I go out and kill a nuna. Let's pretend I get 100 xp.
I take my 100 xp, convert it on a 10 - 1 scale (because I can do my math that way ) and have 10 xp.

Now, under the double xp system, let's pretend I go out and kill a nuna. I get 200xp.
I take my 200xp, I convert it on a 10 - 1 scale, I have 20xp. Double xp, yes?

The way you are saying you expected it to work is:
Kill nuna. Get 200 xp.
Convert. Get 40xp, not 20. Which, if it was not converted, equals out to 400xp instead of 200.

Therefore explaining his 4x comment.

Sorry for making sense out of a CSR -- I'll go boil myself in oil, tar, and feather myself now, no need to trouble yourselves.

Ok wow, double of one thing does not mean double of another thing. This is ratios and proportions:

ChiiTWINSif you can answer this question then i agree.

Hypothetically, Killing Darth Vader nets you 300K combat xp. Now here is were some scratch there heads, how do I double this for FS conversion?

ChiiTWINS

The question is really how do you compensate the players who arent in the village? They dont get double.

Combat XP ----> FS XP

300K\100K =3 really doesnt matter if the 300K was double - combat xp is combat xp

300K\200K =1.5 as long as double is reflected in the conversion - double fs xp

Two xp types; combat xp and fs xp are related by conversion, and this only matters if your in the village

a multiplier has to be applied to the FS xp in order for it to reflect double. To double the FS you must half the ratio.

3:1 ----> 1.5:1 this is the only way to get double xp in the village of Aurillia.

Ithink your example was thatxp stays the same, its only the rate at which your recieved it has changed.

This threed is about "double xp" not someones feelings as to what should be double. This is whycomputer science majors are payed well, and hince why the programmers did not make a mistake or error.

None taken - i posted this so we could think about what double xp means. I like your ratioyour game must be different from mine 1 combat to 3 FS nice.

Let me clear this up for everyone. During double experience week, the experience you converted at the village *was* in fact doubled. Converting 300k combat experience gave you 200k FS experience. The on screen (and system chat messages) still stated that you only obtained 100k FS experience, but the skill trees and your experience monitor showed that you had in fact earned double that. It happened to me all 6 times I converted, right up to the last day of double experience. It worked the same way for weapons experience, giving 60k FS experience for every 900k weapons experience converted (instead of the normal 30k). It always *said* that it only gave you the standard ratio, but it actually doubled the experience. Whether this was only on my server, I do not know. However, everyone I talked to said they were getting the same double experience "bug" that I was upon converting, despite the on screen message saying they weren't. I know quite a few people who filled up 4 or more branches during double experience week. Unfortunately, I was not one of them, since final examweek and double experience week were so fortuitously combined (sarcasm for those who didn't catch it).

The truth is thatCSRs are given 9 billion pages of rules as to what they can and can't do for the customer. Anything that would remotely be useful is on the "don't" list. It's sad, but it's true. I was a CSR for EQ back in the day, and the rules are rediculous. We had the power to do just about anything, from item creation to experience reimbursement to /kill (useful on bugged quest NPCs), but we weren't allowed to use them without the OK of someone in senior management. We couldn't respawn bugged quest NPCs, we couldn't return items stolen or deleted, and we couldn't even take someone out of a death loop (when you die repeatedly because you are bound where you are dying), let alone give them back the experience for it. We had the power to do all that, we just weren't allowed to use that power. God forbid we should bend the rules, because all the petitions we answered as well as a report of how we handled them was required at the end of every shift. They lightened up a little after I quit I think (or the guides stopped listening to the rules), but I see the same trend here and I bet it's for the same reasons.

If it was a bug it was never fixed. I turned in xp the during the last 15mins of double xp week (2:45am EST or 11:45pm PST) and got my conversion as double. And, from what I read here, it converted that way for the entire week.
