Licensed to kill quenkers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill quenkers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit, ever. They're like the Vietcong - varmint cong. So what you gotta do, you gotta fall back on superior firepower and superior intelligence. And that's all she wrote

I had this same problem with my survival quest. Never even thought about placing a camp. I could target the villager only by /target and had to use ~ to bring up the radial menu, but could not converse to get the villager to follow me.

I logged out and then back in, which caused the camp and villager to disappear, but the quest was still active. Tried deleting the waypoint and talking to Whip again, to no avail.

Wrote CSR ticket, their answer was I had to be online when they answered (the answer came 8 hours after I logged off) and that placing a camp would clear the tree (too late, the villager is gone now anyway).

Finally, after 2 days, I'm back at the village to turn in xp, and say "What the heck, let's talk to Whip." He picked up right where we left off, saying I failed to return the villager, and gave me a new waypoint. Wooooot!!! No villagers got stuck this time around, thank goodness.

There is no 'icon' for what I was before, but it was me.
