This one might even rival Anarchy Online's screwup. my guess is in the next month or so, subscription numbers are going to drop by the thousands.

This game is like a pencil in a pencil sharpner...the tip represents how good the devs think the game is the rest of the pencil represents the players...every time the devs "think" they make it better, there for "sharpining" the pencil, the pencil gets shorter.

I dont believe the dark side derived from the jedi like many believe, i believe that jedi were born from the dark side. Now see there had to be one force weilder who learned how to harness the force so he trained others, now think if u were the only person in the galaxie that had the power to destroy a whole fricken army by your self would u be good? I would try and take over the galaxie ya no and i believe many of you would too.

Think about it...

The village is going to be burned to the ground every time now,

Actually several people in my guild got it done last night after the changes went through, and I was in a group and completed it today.

No one should EVER have been hanging out grinding XP at the phase 4 sith spawn since that negatively impacts the people actually trying to complete the quest. Those who still need the quest complete will still be out there though, and will still group.

As for the village, it's always burnt to the ground regardless of players' efforts.

No actually the changes didnt go into effect until this morning. Last night was an issue with how much XP was displayed during the kill. It never affected the true amount that eventually was actually given.

Now this morning is a whole different story. As of TODAY, XP is now cut drastically cut in groups, which is a travesty, especially with the new combat model the CU made us deal with, where everyone is dependent on one another to be successful.

Don't live in the past. Yesterday is ancient history. Today is the here and now, and it will see far fewer SWG players.

As for the phase 4 FS players, I completely disagree with you. I know of many new, eager FS players that were happy to have more ventran players at the village that helped out their cause tremendously by staying in the village, shoeing them the unlock system, and grouping with them to finish the unlock in 1-2 spawns. I know of no players that were screwed out of the quest by players looking solely for XP.

Well, I hope they're happy because their game is about to crash. They left the exp too high for too long. Players expect the same exp they got a year ago, and now they just killed it. They just completely obliterated everyone's desire to group, and also smashed down their mighty nerf bats on the casual gamers, who will now take one look at exp requirements and exp gains and throw their SWG disks in the garbage and burn it. Us veteran players who have been with the game since the beginning were crying enough over the complete revamps to the game, and now THIS?!? This is an outrage, we need to start a petition to fix exp back to the way it was.

Great, start a petition. It's always worked in the past.

And in the meantime, there will be much groaning on the boards, many gnashings of teeth, many threats (some quite overt, others less so) of people quitting, and in the end it will all work down to how many people are actually willing to cancel their accounts, as opposed to saying they're going to do so.

History ( in particular recent history regarding the CU ) leads me to believe that few will actually cancel ( that weren't growing bored with the game and probably would have cancelled anyway ), flames will be written, and cash will still flow into SoE's coffers.

I did the quest TODAY with others who completed it TODAY, in a group, of non-guildies in fact complete strangers to me. So my empirical evidence would seem to disagree with your opinion. We all needed the quest done and we grouped together to complete it. After all it's supposed to be about completing the quest not worrying about how much xp per kill you get while doing it. Those who need the quest complete will still be out there BECUASE they need the quest complete. There may be fewer players out there otherwise but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

And as for no one getting screwed out of the quest? Credit for kills is only done if your group dishes out the majority of the damage. Any full group there to grind XP is going to be getting credit they have no need of for Sith they do the most damage to, denying that credit to those who actually need the credit.

I'd have finished the quest days ago were it not for that. So I WAS screwed, at least temporarily.

There will be fewer SWG players? I've heard that claim so many times for so many things it loses all meaning. I see a lot of grousing on the forums but there always seems to be roughly the same number of people around despite the threats of "I'm leaving if they don't change this"

I don't now which galaxy you are playing in, but in Flurry, there is an average of 3 players in the villiage that need the quest done, while 20 others need just the XP. Do you know of any successful 3 person group that has been able to stand up to a full spawn? Just to complete the quest in this fashion would take 3 times as long, and the threat of dying in mid-spawn is greatly increased.

Now when grouped with vetran players that camp at the spqwn sites, the new players get a great bonus on top of finishing their quest: XP!!! What a concept!! FS players that have been screaming for better XP sources actually get their wish!

I don't think the players on Flurry are going to be happy to wait for others to show up that also need the quest done. So in esence, my original premise stands firm. In your situation, I believe youthe exception to theruleby being incredibly lucky.

I kinda liked the freedom of being able to change template. With nerfed xp those people who want to change up and do something new will face months of grinding. I thought that xp reward was very high before this change. Didn't bother me much because, as I said in the first sentence, I think there is value to being able to grind a new template quickly. Personally, I believe that the ability to switch-up templates lengthened people's interest in the game. After all, it's the journey and not the destination, right? Once one achieves a template usually they play it for a couple weeks and then start eyeing something new and different.

I'm glad I'm not terrible attached to the idea of finally getting one of my avatars to jedi status. I don't have all that much time to grind, since the other parts of my SWG life take up most of my gametime. Unless something drastic is done, I am facing a decade of sporatic grinding in order to achieve Jedi status. Meh.

I just hope that enough people stay in the game, and join the community, to support my other pursuits: crafting, merchanting, and role-playing.
