at 1 per box they are only nuisiance, more per box they would harm the game.

The real reason for the 24 point usage is to cripple Jedi templates. If Jedi had the extra 24 points, they could dual master and dabble in two additional trees instead of just 1.

Jedi can already dual master and get two additional trees in another profession. 24 extra SP would just allow them to pick up another novice and three steps or another tree in a non-mastered discipline (most would probably go for Powers 0030).

1 point for the FS skills is right on. Your alternative to get that extra melee defense or ranged defense would be to spend like 36 points minimum to equal the FS skill bonus. 4 points seems more then fair

No costs except the umpty-million FS xp you have to grind to get it, you mean. Not a whole lot different then grinding up TKM to get speed capped on your template.

Is FS a profession or not? If it is, make it cost the same skill points as any other profession. If it isn't (it isn't), than any argument for 1 vs. 4 vs. no skill points is kind of arbitrary, depending on whether or not you think it would help or hurt your own template.

BTW, no skill point cost would help me a lot since as TKM/Master Doc I have no skill points left to buy FS boxes after the CU (getting a whole brawler line added to TKM gobbling up my "free" skill points). I see the reason in leaving my chosen profession behind when I take on Padawan, but not beforeso I vote....

I don't agree with your post for a few reasons. If the trees were all free, then you would have (before the CU) these triple master PvPers with more speed (ranged or melee), more defense, more accuracy, more terrain negotiation, better healing powers, faster speedes, and more. That would make a HUGE difference in the way fights go. The reason that SP's are used there (in my opinion) is that if you want all those extra FS branches to help you PvP, then you would have to drop skills in other places as well to make it all balances. I don't think that any skills that can help you in fighting should be free at all or else the balance gets lost.

Also, I think the reason behind getting that 2nd character when your doing your Paddy trials is that if you are going to go Jedi, there's no room in your template for any kind of alternate skills at all. It takes a casual gamer a very long time to become a Knight, so that means that when you go Jedi, if you didn't have that second character, then all you could EVER do is grind. No group hunting, no crafting, nothing but grinding until your template is strong enough to defend yourself from BH's. To me, that would be a very boring game. That second character allows you the freedom to be able to hunt with buddies without gaining visibility or worrying about getting ganked by anyone. If someone who is not interested in going Jedi wants to have an alt, then he will have to sacrifice a chunk of his template to do so, and I think that's one of the reasons behind that.

Where the hell did you get 48 weeks from? You have your math all screwed up.

Sixteen branches, three weeks per branch. Sixteen times three is forty-eight. Technically, it would only be forty-five since you don't have to wait that last period before unlocking the branch, but that's an honest mistake.

I also disagree with this petition. Why should you get bonuses for free? The skill points cap is in place for a reason: it forces you to choose how you want to play. If you want that novice scout box, then you have to be willing to sacrifice fifteen skill points from other places to get it. Maybe they come from Doctor, or maybe they come from FS skills. It all depends on how you choose to play.

Um, you only have to unlock 6 branches, not 16. So, 6 branches x 3 weeks = 18 weeks

Ok for you folks with reading issues, on the 48 week thing. the original poster was saying that one arguement for each box costing 1 skill point was so people wouldnt max out ALL the FS branches and he was saying if someone wanted to spend 48 weeks and the rest of their life on FS exp then let them. He was not saying it took 48 weeks to become jedi initiate or to unlock etc he was saying that it is 48 weeks to unlock ALL the branchs. its not that tough just read the post slowly...

as for the folks saying that all the triple masters would get it again who cares if someone wants to spend that much time more power to them..

how about though that once you have 2 novice boxes in Jedi skills done you could drop the FS trees.. that way it doesnt gimp Jedi templates yet it keeps people from using it for just a second char as it would gimp non jedi chars...

oh and sign...

I agree with this 100%...

All jedi grind so hard and so long in order to achieve this goal...

Jedi should be allowed to keep their skill points in order to keep their

old skills or do something else with the skill points...

Do away with the need for Skill Points for Jedi skills.

Thank you... Drive thru!
