#1 Gauranteed income.

#2 To discourage hardcore gamers from going F.S. because most hardcore gamers have little to no patience to wait for such things, this is why they grind incessantly so they can finish A.S.A.P.

The Issue with #2 is that it had the exact opposite effect. The Hardcore gamers are the only ones sticking with Jedi now. Everyone will probably take offense at this, but the real deal is, the players that SOE and LA wanted to become Jedi in the first place are the ones who have given up on it, and the ones SOE and LA did NOT want going for it, are the ones that have ended up with it.

The Jedi who hang around the starports /dueling people and running around screaming their heads off and showboating are the exact kind ofplayer that these two companies did not want to see beingJedi, for these very reasons. They wanted people whotruly cared about roleplaying a Jedi to become a Jedi, but SOE and LA had absolutely no clue how to go about making that happen, thus the fiasco we're faced with now. Lucas Arts was simply too inexperienced torealize that SOE's answer to everything is to make the grind longer.

And to take it a step further.... They've wasted so much time on the C.U. and other crap stuff that now they're incredibly behind on what the content levels should be for a game that should be reaching it's maturity now but is instead still in it's infancy, so thatJedi is the only end-game content available. There are no high-level only planets available, no high-level quests, no high-level anything. The GCW has been ignored andhas basically rotted for 2 years andall of this has contributed to the state that the game is in now.

When I look at the patch notes, and see the lack of responses from the developers, SOE, and LA. I get the distinct feeling that theybelieve they have failed with SW:G, and are now just trying to recoup losses and keep people interested long enough to make their money back so they can dump SW:G. I see SOE focusing much more on EQ2 and EQ than SW:G. And I see Lucas Arts as having given upon trying to make this game what they wanted it to be.

If they were still interested in doing something with this game, I think we would have seen a lot more by now.Even FunCom went out and poured money into an MMORPG consulting group to stem the flow after it was released, yet LA/SOE has done nothing. And now they've completely stopped listening to players and have obviously decided to push ahead with their own agenda. And when it comes to 2 big companies, the only real agenda is to make money, or in this case, not show a loss.

Of course I also get the feeling that the developers have taken to venting their frustrations and anger on the player-base because of the high amount of stress and tension going on in those offices. Unfortunately IMO Credence was lent to this theory when just this last friday Green Marine quit SOE to go work for another company doing software development.

There's only really 1 reason to quit a job like that, and that reason usually stems from the fact that the game designer has had his hands tied and is no longer encouraged to be creative, and is instead told exactly what to do and how to do it, with no say in the process. And this usually happens because the "bosses" have taken to blaming said designers for everything that's wrong with their profit margins, instead of doing what a responsible and "good" manager would do, which is take the blame for it themselves and find ways to fix the issue. Thus making the entire environment into a (everyone for themselves) place to be which discourages any kind of team work and encourages finger pointing to save your own butt.

I would say that Jedi path should work the same way village does. You go to other remote planet (Yavin 4 and Exar Kun temple sounds right) find the mysterious Jedi village. And do you Jedi quests. During every phase you unlock certain tree in one of Jedi disciplines, this would prevent FOTM templates being made in the month and would greatle diversify the Jedi population, aswell as add some more RPing and realism to jedi training.

I guess the main problem I haveis that in MMO's, I usually have a goal I'm working toward, the next level, the best gun, whatever, but there is always an attainable goal, and if you work hard enough you'll get it. Apparently not with becoming a jedi, no matter how hard I train, or work at it I can'tbring him closer to being a jedi,

I pretty much just wander around the game aimlessly, I'm running real low on quests from RotW at this point, got maybe til friday til I've done everything on that planet, and I'm guessing I'll just stop playing for a couple month for everything except phases, it kind of sucks because I like this game, but I'm just getting bored of it, and I'm ready for the end-game content.

It's almost like the difference between skateboarding, and working. If I skateboard a lot, I get better, but no matter how hard I work, I'm only going to get an evaluation for a raise once every 3 months. It makes the game more like work then a hobby in my opinion.

Therein lies the reason you are upset.

There IS no end-game for you to engage in end-game content. Many might see Jedi as the end-game, but it really isn't.

End-game is basically a term from chess, where the game actually ends due to stalemate, or a win for one side. Galaxies has no end-game as once you do all the content and get all the badges and do everything, the game continues merrily on despite you. It's kinda like mainstream superhero comic books, as Chris Claremont of X-Men fame put it. They are not really stories, since a story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Comics for the most part, and Galaxies as well, have a beginning and a middle, but no end. They just keep going.

It is therefore important to focus on the journey, and not the destination. You've obviously ground out FS XP like crazy, finishing even before you completed all your unlocks. It's evident you focused solely on the destination, getting the Jedi. It's also evident that you demonstrate the sort of playstyle that tends to make the Jedi most players would likely never want to see.

The village does exactly what it's supposed to, namely discourage all but the really committed. If you think the FS grind is a pain, just wait until you actually get a Jedi. It's an even longer grind.

question . . . how many hours a week do you play?

question . . . how many hours a weekdo you think a casual player plays?

question . . . how many hours a week do you think a power gamer plays?

The village works on a 4 chapter story split into 4 phases. Because it would be difficult to have times based on individual characters, 1 timer is used for every character on each individual server.

the approx 3 week phase time enables a casual player the same oppertunity to unlock the FS skill branches (and experience the game content) as the power gamer. The power gamer has the advatage in the XP grind . . . but the availability of the game content iseven.

Thats what I think.

All this complaining and guess what? They still have your $15... looks like the phases are right on target of their goal.

Sometimes you have to deal with the little stuff to get something you really want. I guess RL concepts do apply.. even in this game. Who'd ah thunk it!?
